As Building Technician II, you will perform painting responsibilities in accordance with all applicable industry standards, laws and regulations. Under the direction of a Facilities Supervisor, you will apply your painting and maintenance knowledge and skills to provide services to all County buildings. We are looking for a well-rounded individual with intermediate painting skills.

Essential Duties

  • Independently complete painting tasks. Lead other workers on painting projects as needed
  • Perform maintenance and painting projects requiring technical skills such as drywall repair.
  • Operate a full range of painting tools and equipment including brushes, rollers, sprayers, sanders and chemicals while following established safety guidelines. Maintain specialized equipment and tools.
  • Assist others with completing construction and renovation projects.
  • Operate aerial lifts and bucket truck.
  • Assist with snow removal at County facilities as needed.
  • Follow all established safety rules and regulations. Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work environment.
  • Ensure all work is complete and timely to support department goals. Evaluate feedback and procedures to improve efficiency.
  • Invite collaboration and seek learning opportunities. Proactively assist peers to create a supportive work environment.

You Might Be a Good Fit If

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or general education diploma (GED)
  • Two or more years of related experience
  • A comparable amount of education and experience may be substituted for the minimum requirement.

Required Licenses and Certifications

  • Class C non-commercial driver's license

Additional Information

  • May be required to work outside of standard hours.
  • Must meet Carroll County Risk Management driver eligibility requirements.
  • Requires criminal background check as condition of employment.

Working Conditions

  • Frequent exposure to potentially adverse environmental conditions, including, but not limited to, chemicals, noise, and airborne particles.
  • Occasional exposure to potentially adverse weather conditions.
  • Frequent physical activity: lifting and carrying over 50lbs, climbing ladders and steps, standing/walking, pushing/pulling, bending, reaching, squatting, stooping, kneeling, and related activities.
  • Must be able to perform work safely from a boom or aerial lift.
  • Must wear appropriate PPE as required.
