As a Building Technician II, you will perform basic maintenance and repairs to building components in accordance with all applicable industry standards, laws and regulations. Under the direction of a Carpenter or Facilities Supervisor, you will apply your construction and maintenance knowledge and skills to provide services to all County buildings. We are looking for a well-rounded individual with a basic carpentry knowledge.
EssentialDuties
- Perform basic building maintenance tasks and assist with construction projects.
- Operate a full range of maintenance and construction tools and equipment. Maintain specialized tools and equipment, including a small bucket truck.
- Perform snow removal at County facilities as needed.
- Follow all established safety rules and regulations. Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work environment.
- Ensure all work is complete and timely to support department goals. Evaluate feedback and procedures to improve efficiency.
- Invite collaboration and seek learning opportunities. Proactively assist peers to create a supportive work environment.

Education and Experience
- High school diploma or general education diploma (GED)
- Two or more years of related experience
- A comparable amount of education and experience may be substituted for the minimum requirement.
- Class C non-commercial driver's license
- Requires criminal background check as condition of employment.
- May be required to work outside of standard hours.
- Must meet Carroll County Risk Management driver eligibility requirements
- Frequent exposure to potentially adverse environmental conditions, including, but not limited to, chemicals, noise, and airborne particles.
- Occasional exposure to potentially adverse weather conditions.
- Frequent physical activity: lifting and carrying over 50lbs, climbing ladders and steps, standing/walking, pushing/pulling, bending, reaching, squatting, stooping, kneeling, and related activities.
- Must be able to perform work safely from a boom or aerial lift.
- Must wear appropriate PPE as required.
