Part-Time Library Custodian

Part Time Night/Weekend Library Custodian Town of Weston, MA

Part time custodian wanted for busy public library for general cleaning, room set up, and snow removal for main library and one branch. Must be able to lift 50 lbs without difficulty. Must be dependable, able to work with minimal supervision, and able to shift hours (be on call) for snow removal. Flexibility in scheduling is important. This non benefitted position is $28.42 per hour.

Position will remain open until filled.

Hours:

Two or more evenings per week 5-9 PM and one weekend day (Saturday) per week for 4 hours, as well as occasional on-call snow removal hours. Up to a maximum 19 hours per week.

• High school graduate
• Six months of experience in custodial and maintenance work. Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Valid Massachusetts motor vehicle operator’s license
• Must pass a CORI check

Moderate physical effort is required to perform most duties; the employee is required to speak, hear, stand, walk, reach, kneel, bend or stoop, kneel, crouch, climb or balance, push and pull, and use hands to operate equipment; requires the ability to climb and use a ladder, stoop, bend, drive a motor vehicle, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to lift or carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.

Vision requirements include color vision, and the ability to read routine documents.

The majority of work is conducted indoors; outdoor work entails exposure to rain, snow and other weather conditions when maintaining exterior of building and grounds; the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes associated with standard cleaners, loud noise associated with cleaning and maintenance equipment, and moving mechanical parts. The employee responds to weather-related emergencies and works beyond normal hours to be available for special events.
