PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE TECHNICIANWETUMPKA, AL
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on manufacturing machinery and production equipment.
- Inspect equipment for wear, damage, leaks, abnormal noise, vibration, and other potential problems.
- Identify equipment issues and make necessary repairs or recommendations before failures occur.
- Perform routine maintenance on presses, conveyors, motors, gearboxes, pumps, fans, and other industrial equipment.
- Lubricate machinery, including bearings, chains, gears, and other components according to established schedules.
- Inspect, adjust, replace, and repair belts, chains, bearings, seals, sprockets, couplings, and other mechanical components.
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance on hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Check hydraulic lines, fittings, cylinders, pumps, valves, and reservoirs for leaks and proper operation.
- Inspect pneumatic lines, cylinders, valves, regulators, and related components.
- Perform basic electrical inspections and troubleshooting on motors, sensors, switches, and other electrical components.
- Use tools such as multimeters and other diagnostic equipment when troubleshooting equipment.
- Perform welding, cutting, grinding, and minor fabrication as needed for maintenance repairs.
- Follow established preventive maintenance schedules and complete assigned PMs in a timely manner.
- Document completed maintenance activities, repairs, parts used, and equipment conditions.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and communicate recurring equipment problems to maintenance leadership.
- Assist in developing or improving preventive maintenance procedures and schedules.
- Recommend replacement of worn or deteriorating components before equipment failure occurs.
- Assist with equipment installations, modifications, and improvements.
- Respond to equipment breakdowns when necessary and assist other maintenance technicians with repairs.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and the maintenance area in a safe and organized condition.
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and OSHA requirements.
- Follow proper lockout/tagout procedures when performing maintenance.
- Wear all required PPE and maintain a safe work environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Previous industrial maintenance, mechanical maintenance, or preventive maintenance experience preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Knowledge of industrial machinery and mechanical systems.
- Basic knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Basic electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings, equipment manuals, and maintenance instructions.
- Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify equipment abnormalities.
- Ability to work independently and complete scheduled PM work with minimal supervision.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment.
- 2-3+ years of industrial maintenance experience.
- Experience performing preventive maintenance in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience working on mechanical presses and production machinery.
- Experience with bearings, motors, gearboxes, conveyors, pumps, and mechanical drives.
- Hydraulic and pneumatic maintenance experience.
- Basic electrical troubleshooting experience.
- Welding and fabrication experience.
- Experience using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) is a plus.
- Experience developing or following preventive maintenance schedules.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, climb, crawl, and work in confined or awkward positions.
- Ability to safely climb ladders and work from elevated platforms when required.
- Ability to lift and carry tools, parts, and equipment as necessary.
- Ability to work around heavy machinery, presses, moving equipment, noise, heat, and other manufacturing conditions.
- Ability to wear required PPE for extended periods.
