Inside Sales Representative - Wheeling, IL Position Overview

Known for our commitment to quality, reliability, and exceptional customer service, we are seeking a detail-oriented Inside Sales Representative to join our team at our corporate headquarters in Wheeling, IL.

Key Responsibilities

+ Manage assigned customer accounts with a focus on increasing customer satisfaction, sales growth, and gross margin.

+ Handle customer inquiries, including preparing quotes, processing orders, providing follow-ups, and managing delivery updates.

+ Resolve customer issues, including processing credits, debits, and return authorizations.

+ Communicate customer requirements effectively with Operations and Engineering teams.

+ Monitor pricing and inventory agreements to ensure accuracy and compliance.

+ Support outside sales representatives to drive overall team success.

+ Collaborate within a team environment to resolve customer challenges efficiently.

+ Escalate issues to management in a timely and professional manner.

+ Maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail in all work.

+ Ensure thorough documentation to support decisions and maintain service continuity.

Role Details

+ Manage a high volume of orders, typically 50-75 complex orders with multiple line items.

+ Work with both domestic and international clients within the Power Transmission team.

+ Participate in a weekly rotation between phone support and email/order management:

+ Phone rotation: ~70% of the day handling inbound calls (approximately 45 calls/day).

+ Email rotation:
Manage 210-265 emails daily, including order processing and customer communication.

+ Enter and manage orders using QAD and Felix systems, including quoting, tracking, and inventory management.

+ Create and process custom orders in between customer calls.

Core Responsibilities & Expectations

+ Demonstrate strong attention to detail due to product complexity and financial impact of errors.

+ Apply solid math skills (fractions, decimals) when processing orders and pricing.

+ Accurately verify shipping details, including addresses, routing instructions, and freight terms (collect, prepaid, third-party billing).

+ Conduct thorough contract reviews for orders and quotes before finalizing and confirming with customers.

+ Operate in a fully paperless environment.

Required

Skills & Qualifications

Must-Have:

+ Minimum of 2 years of experience in manufacturing sales support or customer service

+ Experience handling product knowledge in a technical or manufacturing environment

+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

+ Strong experience with order entry systems

Attendance & Work Expectations

+ Standard schedule:
Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

+ Strict attendance policy with a point-based system (tardiness is monitored closely)

+ Reliability and punctuality are essential for success in this role

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wheeling, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $28.00/hr.
