Position Details
- Multiple Openings at the Elementary and Middle School Level (Self-Contained / Instructional Classrooms)
- Full Time, 1.0 FTE
- Starting August 2026 for the entire school year
Ampersand Therapy is hiring Special Education Teachers to support students in Wheeling, IL . In this role, you'll provide individualized instruction, develop IEPs, and create inclusive learning environments that help students succeed.
You'll work with a collaborative district and a supportive, therapist-run team.

- Develop and implement IEPs tailored to student needs
- Provide specialized instruction across academic subjects
- Manage classroom behavior and create a structured, supportive environment
- Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and families
- Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
- Write progress reports and maintain compliant documentation
- Adapt curriculum and teaching strategies for diverse learning needs
- Incorporate technology and resources to enhance learning
- Valid Illinois State teaching license (PEL) with Learning Behavior Specialist endorsement (LBS1)
- Strong classroom management and collaboration skills
- School-based experience preferred, not required
