Job OverviewOversees the planning, coordination and delivery of all American Heart Association (AHA) training programs for WVUH employees, UHA employees, system hospitals, and community members.
Core Duties and Responsibilities- Act as an AHA Training Center Coordinator, serving as the primary resource and point of contact for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of classes, instructors, and participants.
- Responsible for successful AHA site audit.
- Supervise daily work and assign teaching schedules of AHA instructors.
- Accountable to ensure manikin integrity, infection prevention, and the availability of resource materials.
- Develop a department budget for AHA classes to include classroom, manikin, material, instructor, and participant needs.
- Update AHA guidelines into all AHA courses.
- Communicate and hold update sessions on course material, policies, etc. to all instructors.
- Independently make decisions regarding AHA training center coordination policies and practices.
- Schedule and communicate available classes with WVU Medicine System leaders and employees.
- Maintain AHA resources on the CEOD website.
- Oversee production of AHA certification cards for participants and instructors.
- Nominate individuals for Regional BLS, ACLS, and PALS Faculty appointments using judgment of instructors' teaching capabilities, quality of courses conducted, and commitment to instructing.
- Responsible for maintaining instructor records, LMS entry for WVU Medicine instructors and participants, and when needed provide notification to HR of successful class completion.
- Monitor certification and coordinate certification records and details, course enrollments, procedures, and documentation, manage deadlines and schedules for all programming.
- Collaborate with other training centers in the WVU Medicine System for classes when needed to ensure equipment, supplies, and other resources are available.
- Establish satellite training center sites at WVU Medicine affiliate locations.
- Coach, mentor, and monitor all sites under the WVU training center.
- Serve as regional faculty and an active member of the Regional ECC Committee, and serve as chair if appointed.
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related Health/Education field and three (3) years of recent teaching experience, OR Associate Degree in a related Health Education field and five (5) years of recent teaching experience.
- Attain BLS Instructor status within one month of employment.
- Attain ACLS Instructor status within three months of employment.
- Attain PALS Instructor status within three months of employment.
- Required licensure/certification per discipline if applicable (e.g., LPN, Respiratory Therapy, EMT).
- Regional faculty experience.
- One (1) year of experience in a healthcare setting in nursing, allied health, or EMS field, including pre-hospital.
- Must be physically capable of correctly demonstrating mannequin skills on all mannequins (infant, child, adult) on the ground/floor/table.
- Must have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds of equipment when working/moving equipment for setup, storage, and cleaning.
- Classroom Teaching/Learning Environment.
- May require travel.
- Ability to utilize MS Office programs.
- Ability to use online, web-based technology to submit course‑related training documents and for regular communication.
- Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills.

40 hours.
