Our client is currently seeking a qualified IT Lab Technician to join their team onsite in Wheeling, IL and provide end-user support. The technician is responsible for managing the intake, diagnostics, cleaning, inventory, and shipping of IT equipment, primarily laptops, within the IT Asset Processing (ITAP) lab. This role supports device lifecycle management and ensures timely and accurate deployment of technology to new hires.
This technician will work the hours of 8:00am to 4:30pm, Monday to Friday.
- Perform device diagnostics and assessment
- Run brand-specific diagnostics on returned laptops
- Identify physical damage or excessive filth and categorize devices for repair or disposal
- Document diagnostic results and update inventory systems accordingly
- Perform cleaning and inventory management
- Clean devices using approved materials and techniques
- Record device status and location in SharePoint inventory
- Organize and store devices on designated shelving units
- Perform packing and shipping
- Prepare and pack devices for new hire classes
- Generate shipping labels via Fed Ex and update tracking information in Service Now
- Include required accessories and documentation in each shipment
- Ensure timely delivery by selecting appropriate shipping methods
The rate for this position is between $15.00 - $22.00 per hour
. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
