Wieland is hiring a Machine Operator. The machine operator is responsible for the production and inspection of all work orders assigned. This role primarily supports operation, housekeeping and other functional attributes of the Fin Tube milling centers, creating product for quality review, the preparation and review of material scans for the start of production, and conducting quality checks during production. Assigned tasks also include operation of the overhead crane as needed.
Strong focus on quality and troubleshooting of tools and other production elements, including identifying defects of tubes during production. Adhere to all safety and environmental guidelines. Works directly with the team lead for work assignment and reports to the Shift Supervisor. This role is located in Wheeling, IL and will be fully on-site.
Pay Range: $21.00/hr.
- $21.00/hr.
Shift: 3rd shift, Monday-Friday, 11pm-7am
Shift Differential: $2.00 for 3rd shift

ResponsibilitiesMachine Operator Responsibilities:
Duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
- Set up and operate Fin Tube machines (understanding tube types, material dimensions, identifying defects, understanding tube structure to identify condenser/boiler conformance or non-conformance) to achieve progressive milling operations with precise tolerances and finishing per customer drawings.
- Inspect in-process material as specified in work instructions; report material not meeting criteria to ensure proper steps are taken to identify or dispose of material following correct deposition methods.
- Maintain a clean and safe workplace; ensure PPE, equipment safeguarding and protective devices are functioning and utilized per EHS safety standards.
- Record quality data, scrap counts, and material usage using WFS to ensure accurate inventory and product movements.
(All duties and responsibilities are unique to our facility. Training will be provided.)
QualificationsMachine Operator Qualifications:
- Good written and communication skills
- Ensure work area is clean, organized and safe
- Report incidents that may impact the area or production to supervisor
- Suggest job-related improvements and cost-saving ideas
- Perform related duties as assigned to meet job requirements
- Able to perform set-ups and quality troubleshooting to minimize production impact
- Recognized as a strong contributor within the organization
- High school diploma or GED (preferred)
- CNC machining experience (a plus)
- Understanding of measurement math (decimals and fractions) and basic math functions
- Manufacturing experience with knowledge of machine function and interface (HMI, calibration methods, programming, labeling, and computer input for production/order starts and finishes)
Physical Demands:
- Standing, walking, stairs, ladders, and elevated catwalks in hot or cold production environments
- Ability to wear PPE (safety glasses, shoes, hard hat, ear protection, etc.)
