Machine Operator

The Machine Operator is responsible for the production and inspection of all work orders assigned. This role primarily handles operation and housekeeping of the Fin Tube milling centers, creates product for quality review, prepares and reviews material scans for the start of production, performs quality checks during production, operates the overhead crane as needed, focuses on quality and troubleshooting, and identifies tube defects.

Adheres to all safety and environmental guidelines. Works directly with the team lead for work assignment and reports to the Shift Supervisor.

Base Pay

$21.00/hr. – $21.00/hr.

Shift Differential

$2.00/hr.

Schedule Options

3rd Shift (Monday ­ Friday: 11 pm – 7 am)

Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate Fin Tube machines, understanding tube types, material dimensions, defect identification, and tube structure to ensure progressive milling operations meet tolerances and finishing requirements per customer drawings.
  • Inspect in‑process material per work instructions, report any non‑conforming material and ensure proper disposal following deposition methods.
  • Maintain a clean and safe workplace, ensuring all PPE, equipment safeguarding, and protective devices are functional and used per EHS safety standards.
  • Record quality data, scrap counts, and material usage using WFS to ensure accurate inventory and product movements.
Machine Operator Qualifications
  • Good written and communication skills.
  • Ensure the work area is clean, organized, and safe for all personnel.
  • Report all incidents that may impact the work area, material production, or other team members to the supervisor.
  • Suggest job‑related improvements and cost‑saving ideas.
  • Perform related duties as assigned to meet position and organizational expectations.
  • Able to perform set‑ups and quality troubleshooting as instructed to minimize impact on production flow.
  • Recognized as a strong contributor within the organization.
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. (preferred).
  • CNC machining experience (a plus).
  • Understanding of measurement math for decimals, fractions, and basic math functions.
  • Manufacturing experience with machine function and interface such as HMI input/output, calibration methods, programming, printing, labeling auxiliaries, and computer input for production/order start and finish operations.
Physical Demands
  • Periods of standing, walking, and negotiating stairs, ladders, elevated catwalks, and platforms in hot or cold production environments on slippery surfaces.
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (e.g., safety glasses, safety shoes, hard hat, ear plugs).
  • Occasionally lift up to 50 lbs maximum.
