CNC Machinist (Mill Set-Up)
Location:
Wheeling, IL
Our client is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist with strong mill set-up experience to join their growing manufacturing team. This position is responsible for setting up and operating 3, 4, and 5-axis CNC milling machines to produce high-precision components while maintaining strict quality and production standards.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience performing complete machine set-ups, reading blueprints, selecting tooling, and making machine adjustments to ensure parts meet tight tolerances.
Responsibilities- Set up and operate 3, 4, and 5-axis CNC milling machines.
- Perform complete machine set-ups, including tooling, fixtures, and offsets.
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions.
- Verify first-piece and in-process inspections using precision measuring instruments.
- Make machine and tooling adjustments to maintain quality and production efficiency.
- Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and equipment issues.
- Maintain dimensional accuracy while meeting production deadlines.
- Perform routine machine maintenance and keep work areas clean and organized.
- Follow all company safety and quality standards.
- 3+ years of CNC machining experience.
- Proven experience performing mill set-ups on 3, 4, and/or 5-axis CNC machines.
- Ability to independently set up and operate CNC mills.
- Strong blueprint reading and GD&T knowledge preferred.
- Experience using precision measuring tools, including micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
- Solid understanding of machining practices, tooling, feeds, and speeds.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Experience in precision manufacturing, aerospace, or other tight-tolerance industries.
- Ability to edit or troubleshoot CNC programs is a plus.
