Position: Machine Operator - Starts ASAP

Machine Operator

The Machine Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and inspecting fin tube milling equipment to produce high-quality products that meet precise customer specifications. This role prepares and reviews material scans before production, performs in-process quality checks, and operates an overhead crane as needed. The Machine Operator focuses on product quality, troubleshooting tools and production issues, identifying tube defects during production, and strictly adheres to all safety and environmental guidelines while working closely with the team lead and shift supervisor.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate fin tube machines to perform a series of progressive milling operations while maintaining precise tolerances and finishing requirements according to customer drawings.
  • Understand tube types, material dimensions, and tube structure to determine condenser and boiler conformance or nonconformance.
  • Inspect in-process material as specified in work instructions and immediately report any material that does not meet criteria, ensuring proper identification and disposition using correct methods.
  • Record quality data, scrap counts, and material usage using WFS so that inventory and product movements are accurately documented.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, ensuring all PPE, equipment safeguards, and protective devices are functioning and used in accordance with EHS safety standards.
  • Load and unload machines efficiently and safely throughout the shift.
  • Perform regular quality checks on products during production to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Identify and troubleshoot quality and tooling issues to minimize impact on production flow.
  • Operate the overhead crane as needed to move materials and products safely within the facility.
  • Report all incidents or issues that may affect the work area, material being produced, or other team members to the supervisor promptly.
  • Suggest job-related improvements and cost-saving ideas to support continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
  • Perform related duties as assigned to meet position requirements and organizational expectations.
  • Ensure all work complies with safety, environmental, and quality standards.
  • Demonstrate strong contribution to the team and organization through reliable performance and collaboration.

Essential Skills

  • At least 6 months of manufacturing experience.
  • Ability to understand measurement math related to decimals and fractions and perform basic math functions.
  • Ability to stand on feet for the entirety of the shift.
  • Ability to consistently lift up to 40–50 lbs.
  • Basic math skills for measurement and production calculations.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to perform machine set-ups and basic quality troubleshooting as instructed.
  • Capability to perform loading and unloading of machines safely.
  • Ability to perform quality checks during production.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Any machine operating experience is a plus.
  • Any CNC operating experience is a plus.
  • Experience with CNC machining is considered an advantage.
  • Manufacturing experience with knowledge of machine function and interface, including HMI input and output.
  • Familiarity with calibration methods and basic programming related to production equipment.
  • Experience using printing or labeling auxiliaries in a production environment.
  • Ability to use direct computer input for production and order start and finish operations.
  • Ability to perform measurement math related to decimals and fractions and other basic math functions.
  • Ability to work on feet all day in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Spanish language proficiency is welcome and fully acceptable.
