Are You Ready To Lead Aerospace Metrology?
Do complex GD&T callouts spark your curiosity? Can you turn a challenging aerospace drawing into a reliable, efficient CMM program? As our Principal CMM Applications Specialist, you will be the technical anchor for dimensional inspection, driving new product introduction readiness and continuous improvement across the factory floor.
Challenges You Will Tackle Build, refine, and accelerate CMM programs for complex aerospace components
Perform First Article (AS9102), in-process, and final inspections using CMMs and conventional metrology
Own program development in PC-DMIS, Calypso, or equivalent platforms
Decode advanced prints and GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and convert them into robust inspection plans
Define inspection methods and validation plans that de-risk new product introductions
Lead troubleshooting for dimensional nonconformances; partner with engineering and manufacturing to identify root cause
Set inspection strategies to maximize efficiency while maintaining uncompromising quality
Validate new fixtures, tooling, and processes using dimensional analysis and data Support internal and customer audits; sustain AS9100 compliance
Mentor junior inspectors and programmers; serve as the department’s technical reference
Manage calibration records and ensure equipment compliance
Champion continuous improvement to enhance accuracy, repeatability, and throughput
About You5+ years of hands-on CMM programming in precision machining
Practical experience with Zeiss, Hexagon, Mitutoyo, or similar systems
Expert user of PC-DMIS, Calypso, or equivalent CMM software
Advanced understanding of GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and complex blueprint interpretation
History of inspecting tight-tolerance machined components
Comfort with micrometers, calipers, height gages, bore gages, optical comparators, and surface plates
Analytical problem-solver with strong troubleshooting skills
Clear, proactive communicator able to work closely with engineering and production
Bonus Points Experience in aerospace or defense manufacturing AS
9100 quality systems knowledgeFAI to AS9102 experienceSPC, MSA, and statistical analysis
Deep familiarity with Zeiss platforms and Calypso Lean and continuous improvement initiatives
