Summaryof Primary Function
The Business Development Manager owns identifying new business opportunities, acquiring new customers, maintaining new customer relationships and driving IoT sales. The role requires a strategic thinker with excellent communication skills and a proven track record in business development and sales.
Responsibilities- Identify New Business Opportunities: research and analyze market trends to identify potential business opportunities; develop strategies to target new customers in existing and new markets and expand the company's customer base.
- Customer Acquisition: generate leads, build relationships, and convert prospects into customers; develop and implement effective sales strategies to achieve sales targets.
- Hardware Sales: promote and sell all hardware solutions available in the paint and coating industry to new customers, especially smaller and mid‑tier customers.
- IoT Sales: promote and sell IoT solutions to new and existing customers; understand customer needs and provide tailored IoT solutions; demo solution capabilities and serve as the primary point of contact for software solution needs.
- Legacy Software Migration: support the Application Engineering team in migrating legacy software systems to modern platforms; collaborate with technical teams and Account Executives to ensure smooth transitions and minimal disruption.
- Market Analysis: conduct market research to stay updated on industry trends, competitor activities, and customer preferences; use insights to inform business development strategies; partner with Marketing and Product Management to quantify market opportunities, build a funnel, and execute on prioritized prospects.
- Sales Forecasting: prepare and present sales forecasts; monitor sales performance and adjust strategies as needed.
- Networking: attend industry events, conferences, and trade shows to network with potential clients and partners; build and maintain strong professional relationships.
- Collaboration:
work closely with cross‑functional teams—marketing, product development, operations, software, service, and customer support—to align and achieve business goals. - Customer Feedback: gather and analyze customer feedback to improve products and services; ensure customer satisfaction and retention; manage communications on updates, issues, and customer requests.
- Education/
Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in business or related field (preferred); 5+ years of progressive experience in Business Development or Sales. - Core

ability to manage and drive multiple tasks; drive for results with a sense of urgency; critical thinking, solid problem‑solving, constant improvement, and process‑driven mindset. - Communication: excellent communication, planning, negotiating, troubleshooting, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

- Location & Travel: based in Wheeling, IL; travel up to 25% of the time.
The compensation range for this position is $78,200.00 – $, depending on experience. The role may be eligible for a performance‑based bonus plan. Benefits include health benefits, a 401(k) retirement savings program with company match, paid time off, and more.
