The position is for a Mobile Diesel Technician Level II (DOT Management Level) within Cox Automotive’s Cox Fleet team. The role works field‑based, performing DOT inspections, preventative maintenance (PM), diagnostics, and repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles.

Compensation & Work Details

Hourly base pay: $26.73 – $40.10 (range depends on location and experience). Additional compensation may include commission and incentive programs. 100% travel required. Variable shift schedule.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform scheduled PM, DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on mobile duty vehicles.
  • Conduct minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment: electrical, brakes, cooling, starters, alternators, fans, diesel steering, engines, transmissions, clutches, and differentials.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, electronic, and HVAC systems using handheld test instruments.
  • Conduct road tests, listen to equipment, and troubleshoot malfunctions.
  • Manage parts inventory and reconcile supplies on the service truck.
  • Maintain and pre/post‑trip inspections and safety checks on the company‑issued service vehicle.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, customers, and internal teams; document work accurately in the TRAIT application.
  • Adhere to OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations and safety policies.
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED. Alternative: any level degree or certification beyond High School with 3 years of related experience (or 5 years with a higher degree).
  • At least 21 years old, valid ClassC driver’s license, and a valid driver’s license in the state of residence.
  • Current DOT medical card with >4months validity or completion of a DOT physical.
  • Ability to lift, bend, climb, stand, walk, and perform moderate heavy labor.
  • Applicable ASE certifications: T8 (PMI) required within 18months; optional ASE T3, T4, T5, T6, T7, 608/609 certifications.
