Job OverviewWest Star Aviation, an independent MRO provider, seeks an Avionics Maintenance Technician to troubleshoot and repair avionics and aircraft systems.
Responsibilities- Perform general avionics support items on aircraft, including removal and installation of panels and components and repair work.
- Troubleshoot and evaluate aircraft systems when designated.
- Inspect and evaluate aircraft and components when designated.
- Verify aircraft movement and performance of systems.
- Maintain and repair shop facility equipment and tooling.
- Collaborate with customers on project management, pricing and support roles.
- Work independently on projects.
- Communicate effectively in English (speak, write, read).
- Navigate electronic training, manuals and maintenance databases.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent; electronics or avionics factory training preferred.
- Valid driver’s license for airline travel or passport (ideal, not mandatory).
- Basic computer skills.
- Experience level:
Tech I (0‑2 years), Tech II (2‑4 years), Tech III (4‑6 years), Master Technician (6+ years).
- Tech I – 0‑2 years; minimal knowledge; close supervision.
- Tech II – 2‑4 years; broad knowledge; general supervision.
- Tech III – 4‑6 years; full knowledge; limited supervision; can mentor.
- Master Technician – 6+ years; subject matter expert; exclusive knowledge.
- Lift 50 lbs.
- Routine walking, bending, squatting, sitting and repetitive hand motions.
- Stand long periods; climb ladders and stairs; work in restricted areas.
- Understand and implement FAA guidelines and company safety rules.
- Conduct functional tests for avionics and instrument systems.
- Maintain customer-oriented work habits.
- Work under supervision of Avionics Team Leader.
- Adapt to hangar environment with temperature extremes and occasional outside work.
