Itinerant Custodian position in Braxton County Schools. 230‑day contract, state minimum salary schedule.
Qualifications- High School Diploma or GED per West Virginia Code §18A‑2‑5.
- Classification in custodial category or state exam result per West Virginia Code §18A‑4‑8e.
- Criminal background check per West Virginia Code §18‑5‑15c.
- Ability to perform essential job duties as described in the Job Description.

- Perform all duties efficiently and productively.
- Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Effectively present information and respond to questions from administrators, staff, and the public.
- Solve practical problems and manage a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardizations exist.
- Comply with all state and county policies and regulations.
- Maintain and update skills.
- Dust, clean, polish fixtures, woodwork, and equipment; wash windows and dust blinds; clean restrooms; sweep, mop, wax, and polish floors, stairs, corridors; clean rugs and carpets with vacuum cleaner; dispose of trash and waste materials; clean doors, door facings, and walls with disinfectant; move equipment and supplies; check and replace light bulbs; sweep sidewalks; report safety hazards; list and report repairs needed;
store equipment; keep stock of inventory and request supplies as needed. - Perform minor repairs and maintain equipment; clean shower rooms and gym; operate and maintain weed eater, lawn mower, floor scrubber, floor buffer, and vacuum cleaner; arrange table and chairs for breakfast and lunch; secure the building at night; operate hand and small power tools; prepare facilities for activities and clean up after the activities; shampoo carpets; perform inspections for fire extinguishers and emergency lighting;
clean ceiling and restroom vents; conduct ongoing general maintenance, upkeep, and repair. - Assist in building maintenance by replacing window glass, cleaning gutters and drainpipes, repairing leaks, repairing furniture, doing simple painting, replacing lights, and performing other related work as assigned.
- Maintain grounds by cutting grass with hand and power mowers and string trimmers; collect litter; trim bushes and small trees; rake grounds; perform minor repairs to walks, paths, walls, play apparatus, roads, and site improvements; perform snow and ice removal duties; operate heating, lighting, ventilation, cooling, and electrical systems.
- Perform routine lubrication services and minor preventive maintenance services; operate security systems and fire safety systems.
- Inspect buildings and report deficiencies; perform other duties as assigned.
- Support duties: display flags; fly flag at half‑staff; inventory supplies; report safety hazards; store equipment; service carpeted areas.
Must have physical strength, balance, hand‑eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various areas. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and push or pull 50‑pound loads at a time. Stand and walk up to eight hours per day and climb multiple sets of stairs while carrying materials weighing between 30 and 60 pounds.

- Applicants who have been dismissed or whose contracts have been non‑renewed for cause by another school district are not eligible.

- Applicants who demonstrate unsatisfactory interview performance are not eligible.
- Applicants who receive unfavorable reference recommendations are not eligible.
