POSITION
Summer Enrichment Custodian (1 Position)
LOCATIONPoint Pleasant Intermediate School, Mason County, Kentucky
EMPLOYMENT TERMSummer 2026 – July 6 to July 10, 2026 (as needed basis). Hours determined by the school’s plan for the program. Salary $75.00 per day for days actually worked.
QUALIFICATIONS- High school diploma or equivalent
- Custodian or successful completion of all state‑required testing
- State‑approved competency test (as required)
- Criminal background check conducted pursuant to WV Code §18‑5‑15c
- Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily; reasonable accommodations may be made.
- Ability to work under minimal to no supervision and to be an effective self‑starter
- Ability to lift and move up to 75 pounds
- Ability to interpret written, oral, and diagrammatic instructions
- Other specific abilities as listed in the full job posting (e.g., present information, solve practical problems, maintain safety standards)
- Maintains regular attendance
- Cleans and preserves designated spaces, equipment, etc. within the building
- Clears classrooms, offices, libraries, restrooms, and common areas including chalkboards, dusting, emptying trash receptacles, vacuuming, washing windows, and replenishing supplies
- Scrubs, mops, disinfects and polishes hard‑surfaced floors in restrooms, cafeteria, hallways, and classrooms using brooms, mops, and buffer machines
- Cleans rugs and carpets with vacuum cleaner
- Disposes of trash and waste materials
- Clean doors, door facings, and walls with disinfectant
- Assists in moving equipment
- Checks and replaces light bulbs
- Sweeps sidewalks around buildings
- Clears snow and ice from sidewalks
- Operates and maintains weed eater, lawn mower, floor scrubber, floor buffer, and vacuum cleaner
- Arranges tables and chairs for breakfast and lunch
- Secures the building at night
- Operates hand and small power tools
- Prepares facilities for activities and cleans up afterward
- Shampoo carpets
- Performs inspections for fire extinguishers and emergency lighting
- Clears ceiling and restroom vents
- Is able to lift all supplies and materials related to custodian duties
- Maintains an inventory of supplies and requests them in advance so as not to hinder performance of duties
- Complies with state law and county policies
- Corrects minor safety hazards when observed and/or refers major hazards to the building supervisor
- Maintains confidentiality
- Additional duties may be assigned

The employee may frequently lift and or move up to 75 pounds of materials, etc. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material and the ability to adjust focus. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.

The temperature in the work environment can range from below freezing when working outdoors to in excess of 90°F when working in the furnace room or kitchen areas or on rooftops.
The work surface can be slippery when mopping or stripping floors or completing snow removal. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud (60‑90 dB).
