Maintenance Mechanic Lead, Portland

Job Overview:
Supervises the maintenance and repair of all equipment and building systems associated with the Automated Warehouse Facility. Performs other duties as assigned. Full‑time colleagues are typically scheduled to work 30 or more hours per week, while part‑time colleagues are typically scheduled 12‑24 hours per week. Hours are dependent on business needs and colleague availability.

• Supervise, assign, and inspect the work of the maintenance staff
• Participate hands‑on in some maintenance and repair of equipment
• Prepare estimates of work hours, materials, and resources required for projects; approve and initiate requisitions and prepare reports and maintain records of repairs
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs for mechanical equipment and facilities
• Prepare reports and analysis setting forth progress of preventive maintenance and work‑order programs
• Identify adverse trends and take appropriate action or make recommendations
• Maintain cost‑effective spare parts inventory levels, ensuring minimal downtime through a accurately stocked parts area(s)
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements related to equipment and facility maintenance including OSHA, EPA, and NFRP programs
• Maintain budget compliance with maintenance labor and expenses
• Provide recommendations to improve budget expenses; assist manager in developing annual budgets
• Train and instruct personnel
• Foster an environment of acceptance and respect; strengthen relationships with colleagues, customers, and communities
• Maintain regular, dependable attendance and punctuality

• High School Diploma or equivalent (encouraged to apply)
• 2–5 years of experience in operation and maintenance of a warehouse distribution center or equivalent combination of experience
• Knowledge of principles involving mechanical and electrical design, maintenance and repair fundamentals of automated industrial production equipment; automated warehouse systems knowledge preferred
• Proficient knowledge and continuous adherence to OSHA, State and Local safety standards and the MLO Safety program standards
• Excellent communication skills: understand and communicate effectively with customers, co‑workers, and supervisors
• Ability to read, understand and interpret employment policies, instructional documents, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals in English
• Resourceful self‑starter, works well independently and as part of a team
• Proficient in the use of computers and handheld technology
• Ability to work a flexible schedule with retail hours, including day, evening, weekends, and/or holidays

• Lifts and moves items weighing up to 25 lbs
• Regular walking, standing, and communicating
• Occasional stooping, kneeling or crouching
• Involves close vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment

Random drug testing for all colleagues will be conducted on a monthly or semi‑monthly basis. Colleagues will be randomly selected for testing by a third party, and testing must be completed on the same workday as notification.
