Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Job Overview
Performs preventive and corrective maintenance on material handling equipment, including daily systems inspections of mechanical equipment such as carton conveying equipment, pallet conveying equipment, and physical building structures. Works independently on routine tasks and as a team member on projects designated by the Manager or Supervisor. Performs repairs, preventative maintenance, and changes for Power Industrial truck batteries, and performs other duties as assigned.
WhatYou Will Do
- Observe and listen to operating machines or equipment to diagnose malfunctions and determine the need for adjustment or repair.
- Report any problems to the Manager or Supervisor.
- Dismantle machine or equipment to examine parts for defects or to remove defective parts.
- Replace defective parts with new parts or repair or reproduce parts.
- Assemble and test operate machines to verify correction of malfunction. Maintain and lubricate machine tools and equipment.
- Disassemble, inspect and perform routine repairs and rebuilds of defective parts on all equipment associated with the automated warehouse.
- Install or recharge batteries for any battery‑powered material handling equipment.
- Repair and maintain Powered Industrial Trucks (PIT) batteries.
- Perform preventative maintenance tasks for Battery Changers and Facility Sweepers.
- Adhere to all maintenance safe work practices and maintain a safe working environment at all times.
- Remove dust, dirt, grease, and waste material from machines, and may paint machines or equipment to prevent corrosion.
- Perform basic electrical tasks, such as replacing motors, fuses, and switches.
- Operate shop tools such as a grinder, drill press, cutting torch, and welding machine to repair or join metal parts.
- Work under the guidance of other team members.
- Cleans work area, tools, and equipment; performs other routine duties.
- Report the usage and replacement of equipment and parts.
- Possess proficient knowledge and continuous adherence to OSHA, State and Local safety standards and the MLO Safety program standards.
- Perform any other function that management deems essential.
- Maintain regular, dependable attendance and punctuality.

- Candidates with a High School diploma or equivalent are encouraged to apply.
- Two years of commercial or industrial maintenance related experience and/or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Can understand and communicate effectively with customers, co‑workers, and supervisors.
- Ability to read, understand and interpret employment policies, instructional documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals in English.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Communicates with Shuttle office staff, Fleet Maintenance Administration, Receiving dock staff, Big ticket management, carriers and drivers.
- Mathematical proficiency, adding, subtracting and multiplying in all units of measure, using whole numbers, decimals and fractions.
- Can work independently with minimal supervision.
- Works harmoniously and effectively with others as part of a team.
- Can work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs.

Random drug testing for all colleagues will be conducted on a monthly or semi‑monthly basis, depending upon factors including but not limited to the size of the facility and the number of colleagues on roll.
