Performing Arts Center (PAC) Custodian
Maintains the Performing Arts Center facility, including public spaces, booths, offices, restrooms, and support areas, in a clean, orderly, safe, and secure condition according to an established schedule. Performs routine custodial duties, assists with event setup and cleanup as needed, and carries out other related responsibilities as assigned. The District expects each staff member will put the safety, health, and well-being of students at the forefront of all actions, job responsibilities, and decisions;
and perform all duties in alignment with the District's Strategic Plan.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Possesses a high school diploma or its equivalent.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical screen.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous custodial or janitorial experience.
- One to two years of successful full-time employment.
- Demonstrates knowledge of basic cleaning methods, procedures, materials, supplies, and equipment used on various surfaces.
- Demonstrates knowledge of basic safety practices and safe working methods related to custodial work.
- Ability to correctly and efficiently operate specialized tools, cleaning equipment, and polishing machinery.
- Demonstrates working knowledge of heating, plumbing, lighting, and ventilation equipment.
- Perform moderate to heavy physical labor and manual activities without close supervision.
- Understand and carry out oral and written instructions and follow a work schedule.
- Keep basic work records and make written reports.
- Establish and maintain cooperative, effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
- Ability to handle stressful situations, effectively manage time, and meet deadlines with severe time constraints.
Job Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Facility Cleanliness & Sanitation:
- Keeps building and premises, including sidewalks, neat and clean at all times.
- Sweeps, mops, wet-washes, and vacuums floors as assigned, as well as cleaning of sinks, equipment, etc.
- Cleans and thoroughly sanitizes restrooms as assigned.
- Dusts furniture and ledges.
- Cleans tables, windows, and glass.
- Cleans and polishes fixtures as assigned.
- Empties and cleans wastebaskets and other trash receptacles.
Maintenance, Operations & Grounds:
- Performs routine facility and equipment maintenance functions, including minor repairs, part replacement, and adjustment tasks.
- Does necessary touch-up painting, minor repairs to plumbing, electrical, carpentry, general mechanical areas, etc. (
Note:
This shall not be construed to cover major installations, new construction, or violate jurisdictional areas of other crafts). - Performs routine maintenance and preventative maintenance functions, including equipment adjustments, lubrication, and simple part replacement.
- Checks, repairs, or replaces lights, fixtures, bulbs, and paper products daily.
Event Support & Special Functions:
- Assists with event setup and cleanup as needed.
- Performs skilled custodial functions in the setup, arrangement, and operation of special purpose equipment, such as stage lighting equipment, curtain operation, microphones and sound board equipment, set arrangements, and other similar functions.
Security, Safety & Emergency Response:
- Checks all windows, doors, and cabinets for security.
- Ensures building security daily by locking doors at the end of the school day.
- Follows a daily custodial work schedule as prepared by the PAC General Manager.
- Reports to supervisor in writing any acts of vandalism, evidence of deliberate littering, or any behavior that may be demeaning.

- Maintains a neat, proper appearance, dress, and strict punctuality for all time schedules and work assignments.
- Operates as an integral, performance-oriented part of the PAC team.
Equipment Used:
Cleaning and maintenance tools and equipment, including but not limited to vacuum, floor polishers, floor strippers, miscellaneous scrubbing equipment.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works inside and outside. The employee must be able to meet deadlines with severe time constraints. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be noisy, depending upon the task at hand.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, stand, travel from one building to another, push heavy equipment, twist at neck and waist, reach, kneel. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. May be required to lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds.
