Job Overview
Join our team and play an essential role in keeping a well-established Manchester Township community clean, safe, and inviting for residents to enjoy every day. In this hands‑on porter role, you’ll take pride in maintaining both indoor and outdoor spaces by performing a variety of routine cleaning and light maintenance tasks, including sweeping, mopping, floor care, dusting, polishing, trash removal, window cleaning, and replacing light bulbs.
You’ll help ensure that common areas, building interiors, and community grounds always look their best, creating an environment residents are proud to call home. This position offers a great mix of indoor and outdoor work, allowing you to stay active while making a visible impact each day. You’ll also play an important role in the team by promptly reporting any maintenance needs to your Supervisor, helping keep the community running smoothly and enhancing the overall resident experience.
Responsibilities
- Inform Supervisor of needed supplies.
- Maintain all cleaning solutions in accordance with OSHA requirements for hazardous chemicals.
- Remove trash from premises and assist in emergency cleaning.
- Properly utilize new equipment and follow safety procedures prior to use.
- Maintain a friendly and professional attitude.
- Maintain the appropriate level of sanitary and cleaning supplies for assigned areas.
- Inspect all assigned areas daily and report all cleaning and maintenance discrepancies to the Supervisor.
- Ensure that security procedures are adhered to at all times.
- Ensure all safety precautions are followed while performing work.
- Maintain a working relationship with building staff.
- Furnish and burnish floors as required.
- Complete daily work orders as scheduled.
- Maintain assigned equipment in good working condition.
- As applicable, clean restrooms: sweep and mop floors, refill all dispensers such as hand towels, toilet paper, and hand soap, clean toilets, urinals, sinks, mirrors, and counters, empty/remove trash, and report any discrepancies or deficiencies to supervisor.
- Previous custodial experience preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalency.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs following appropriate safety procedures.
- Work in an upright standing position for long periods of time.
- Crawl in small and tight spaces; work in different environmental conditions such as heat, cold, wind, and rain.
- Walk and climb stairs; handle, finger, grasp, and feel objects and equipment.
- Reach with hands and arms.
- Navigate the property/building quickly and easily to meet job functions.
- Repeat various motions with wrists, hands, and fingers.
- Complete all required forms.
- Respond to emergencies in a timely manner.
- Climb ladders and work at heights above ground level (maximum 3 ft).
- Capable of working extended hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
- Able to see well enough to read faint or partially obscured writing or printing, with corrective lenses if needed.
- Must be able to speak English in a clear and understandable voice so that various types of communications may be conducted with people of various levels of education and capabilities, including the exchange and receipt of information over the telephone.
- Position involves sitting, standing, stooping, kneeling, pushing, shoving, lifting, carrying, and moving objects that can weigh up to 50 lbs; this movement can occur throughout the day.
- Must also be able to climb several flights of stairs if necessary.
- Alternate between working indoors in a controlled climate and outdoors with variable climate and lighting.
- Must be able to interact with all types of individuals, be mentally alert, detail oriented, and have good reasoning skills.
- Must be able to work in small and confined spaces for extended periods of time.
- Must have finger dexterity for typing/using a keyboard.
As a full‑time exempt associate, you will be eligible for full comprehensive benefits to include your choice of multiple medical plans, dental, vision, and others. In addition, you will be eligible for time‑off benefits, paid holidays, and a 401(k) with company match. Occasional travel may be required to attend training and other company functions.
Compensation$21.50–$22.50 per hour
