Town Hall Custodian

The Town of Whitman is seeking a candidate to fill the role of the Full-time Custodian. Required hours are Monday thru Friday from 7:15AM to 4:15PM with an unpaid hour for lunch. The primary function of this position is to provide for the overall maintenance and repair of the Town Hall and grounds: cleaning and stocking restrooms, removing rubbish, ensuring the building inside and out is safe from all hazards such as clearing of ice and snow during the winter months, maintaining the boilers and AC systems at Town Hall, Police Station, and the Library, keeping the Auditorium clean, assisting the Town Clerk in preparing for Town Election, and performing a variety of other custodial and maintenance duties as needed.

A High School diploma or equivalent with one to two years of experience in general building and grounds care or a related field or any equivalent combination of experience education. Work requires moderate intermittent physical strength and effort daily, such as lifting heavy objects, carrying the object(s) and stacking them or moving them. A great deal of physical effort must be exerted at this level.

The successful candidate shall complete an employment application and consent to a CORI and Drug/Alcohol Screening.
