Facilities Helper

The Facilities Helper performs physically demanding tasks to support the maintenance, cleanliness, and operational readiness of campus buildings and grounds. This hands-on role focuses on general facilities maintenance, basic mechanical work, and heavy lifting to ensure a safe, functional, and well-presented environment for students, staff, and visitors.

Responsibilities
  • Support daily facilities maintenance activities to keep buildings, classrooms, and common areas clean, safe, and operational.
  • Perform basic mechanical and repair tasks under guidance, including minor fixes and adjustments to facilities and equipment.
  • Assist with preventive maintenance routines to help identify and address issues before they become major problems.
  • Support painting and touch-up work to maintain a clean, professional appearance throughout the campus.
  • Handle heavy lifting and movement of materials, furniture, and equipment as needed for maintenance and campus operations.
  • Use hand tools and basic power tools safely and correctly to complete assigned tasks.
  • Work independently on assigned tasks, managing time effectively to complete work within scheduled hours.
  • Follow safety procedures and guidelines to maintain a safe work environment for yourself and others.
  • Communicate clearly with supervisors and team members about work status, issues, and maintenance needs.
Essential Skills
  • Experience in facilities maintenance or a similar hands-on maintenance role.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and comfort working with tools and equipment.
  • Ability to perform repair tasks and assist with painting and preventive maintenance.
  • Strong physical stamina and ability to perform physically demanding work, including heavy lifting.
  • Effective time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Reliability and strong work ethic in a maintenance and facilities environment.

  • Previous experience in a facilities helper, maintenance technician, or facility support role.

Work Environment

The environment is active and service-oriented, supporting students, faculty, and staff throughout the campus.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
