Facilities Helper
The Facilities Helper performs physically demanding tasks to support the maintenance, cleanliness, and operational readiness of campus buildings and grounds. This hands-on role focuses on general facilities maintenance, basic mechanical work, and heavy lifting to ensure a safe, functional, and well-presented environment for students, staff, and visitors.
Responsibilities- Support daily facilities maintenance activities to keep buildings, classrooms, and common areas clean, safe, and operational.
- Perform basic mechanical and repair tasks under guidance, including minor fixes and adjustments to facilities and equipment.
- Assist with preventive maintenance routines to help identify and address issues before they become major problems.
- Support painting and touch-up work to maintain a clean, professional appearance throughout the campus.
- Handle heavy lifting and movement of materials, furniture, and equipment as needed for maintenance and campus operations.
- Use hand tools and basic power tools safely and correctly to complete assigned tasks.
- Work independently on assigned tasks, managing time effectively to complete work within scheduled hours.
- Follow safety procedures and guidelines to maintain a safe work environment for yourself and others.
- Communicate clearly with supervisors and team members about work status, issues, and maintenance needs.
- Experience in facilities maintenance or a similar hands-on maintenance role.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and comfort working with tools and equipment.
- Ability to perform repair tasks and assist with painting and preventive maintenance.
- Strong physical stamina and ability to perform physically demanding work, including heavy lifting.
- Effective time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Reliability and strong work ethic in a maintenance and facilities environment.
Skills & Qualifications
- Previous experience in a facilities helper, maintenance technician, or facility support role.
- Familiarity with preventive maintenance practices.
- Comfort working in an educational or campus setting.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment.

Work EnvironmentThis role is based in a community college setting and supports campus buildings and grounds. The schedule runs Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., providing consistent daytime hours. Work involves both indoor and outdoor tasks, regular use of hand tools and basic maintenance equipment, and frequent physical activity, including standing, walking, bending, and lifting. The environment is active and service-oriented, supporting students, faculty, and staff throughout the campus.

This is a Contract position based out of Whittier, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
