Position: SENIOR UTILITY SYSTEM WORKER - SR USW - WATER DISTRIBUTION
BRIEF

DESCRIPTION:

The purpose of this position is to supervise a utility maintenance crew and maintain the water distribution system. This is accomplished by supervising the work crew; maintaining the water distribution system, repairing, maintaining and installing new mains, making new taps, completing change outs, and ensuring all systems are working properly. Other duties include scheduling tasks and working with customers.

LICENSING REQUIREMENTS:

Driver's License Required - Y Type - A Endorsements - N - Tanker

TCEQ Water Distribution Class C License.

Individuals who do not currently have this license will be given 24 months or 4 failed attempts at license testing to obtain one.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Mission Essential Position will be required to report for all inclement weather.

Must be able to work different shifts and be on call.

This position is expected to regularly work in or around bodies of water greater in depth than 4 feet, which may pose hazard, especially in the absence of swimming ability.

1 S Regular and reliable attendance in compliance with given schedules is a mandatory requirement of this position. Schedules may be subject to change with or without advance notice

2 V Supervises the work crew by ordering the essential parts needed to perform the assigned task, reviewing work orders, supervising the work crew as they perform maintenance and repair on water lines and mains, and ensuring that the proper safety procedures are followed.

3 V Repairs water main leaks, installs new taps, replaces and repairs valves, and changes out meters by excavating, notifying customers, repairing or changing out parts and lines, and covering holes.

4 V Repairs and replaces fire hydrants by inspecting the hydrant, rebuilding, repairing or replacing parts.

5 V Responds to emergency calls as required.
