Primary

Purpose:

To maintain a clean, orderly, and safe environment ensuring the proper operation of all facilities.

• Education/Certification:
  
  High school diploma or equivalent.
• Special Knowledge/
  
  Skills:
  
  Ability to communicate in writing and verbally; work well with others; basic computer skills.
• Experience:
  
  Experience in maintenance and/or custodial is helpful; experience as a delivery driver/courier is helpful.
• Clearances:
  Background check and current TB test.
• Attendance:
  Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance/punctuality as required by Board of Education policies and regulations.

• Assist with opening the building for students and staff at the start of the school day.
• Help maintain cleanliness: wash windows, pick up trash, clean bathrooms, clean drinking fountains, mop floors as needed.
• Repair building and equipment as assigned to assure operational readiness for students and staff.
• Set up and replace equipment for daily activities such as lunch and special activities like evening programs.
• Provide crossing guard duties to ensure safe crossing for students, parents, and staff.
• Help receive deliveries and dispense equipment/supplies/furniture into appropriate places.
• Assist with closing the building to secure premises and minimize utility costs.
• Shovel, plow, and salt sidewalks and steps during inclement weather for safety.
• Assist with special projects such as assembling new furniture, painting walls, completing repairs, and major repairs during summer and non‑session periods.
• Move furniture, equipment, and supplies to relocate classrooms.
• Supervise students as needed to ensure safety.
• Maintain confidentiality to comply with district, state, and federal laws.
• Perform other duties as assigned to maintain a clean, orderly, and safe environment.

• Tools/Equipment:
  Standard office, maintenance equipment, chemicals, personal computer, phone, two‑way radios.
• Posture:
  Occasional sitting, frequent standing, occasional ladder use.
• Motion:
  Significant walking; frequent reaching, carrying, stooping, kneeling, pushing/pulling.
• Lifting:
  Heavy lifting is infrequent.
• Environment:
  Inside and outside; may experience extreme weather conditions.
• Mental Demands:
  Maintain focus, decision making, remain composed under pressure.
