Position Purpose

The Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors.

• Clean classrooms, restrooms, hallways, offices, church, and gym
• Empty trash and recycling
• Sweep, mop, vacuum floors
• Disinfect high-touch surfaces
• Lock/unlock building as assigned
• Deep cleaning during breaks
• Salt sidewalks (if applicable)
• Set up and tear down for school events, Mass, athletics, etc.

Reports to the Pastor and Principal. Performs other related tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Typical cleaning supplies/tools including mops, brooms, dusting tools, vacuums, etc.

• Knowledge of occupational safety and health laws and regulations.
• Ability to follow oral or written work orders from supervisor, and to coordinate work with others.
• Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagrammatic form.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure.
• Ability to describe orally or in writing maintenance or repair problems as needed.
• Ability to report work orally or in writing to supervisor as required.
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff and others contacted in the course of work.

Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would qualify. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:

• High School Diploma
• Ability to stand, bend, and perform physical labor
• Reliable attendance
• Time management
• Attention to detail, Self-motivated
• Ability to work independently
• Positive attitude in a school environment
• Compensation commensurate with experience.
