Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Responsibilities
Serve as the first point of contact for test operators when production or service test stands are not performing as expected.
Diagnose and resolve equipment issues quickly to minimize production downtime and operational disruptions.
Differentiate between operator errors, hardware failures, fixturing problems, and software‑related issues, escalating complex concerns to Test Engineering as needed.
Maintain accurate records of support incidents, documenting symptoms, root causes, and corrective actions.
Track recurring equipment issues and identify trends that require long‑term corrective solutions.
Preventive Maintenance PlanningReview and assess existing preventive maintenance (PM) programs for all test stands, identifying gaps and opportunities for improvement.
Develop and maintain comprehensive PM plans tailored to the unique configuration and usage requirements of each test system.
Establish maintenance schedules based on usage metrics, failure history, and calendar intervals.
Partner with Test Engineering to ensure PM plans remain aligned with equipment design, upgrades, and modifications.
Preventive Maintenance ExecutionPerform scheduled preventive maintenance on production and service test stands according to established procedures.
Inspect, clean, and replace wear items such as connectors, cables, contact surfaces, and fixturing components.
Coordinate maintenance activities with production teams to minimize impact on manufacturing throughput.
Verify equipment functionality and performance before returning systems to service.
PM Documentation and Record‑KeepingMaintain detailed maintenance records, including service history, replaced components, and observed anomalies.
Ensure documentation remains current, accurate, and accessible to engineering and leadership teams.
Analyze maintenance trends to proactively identify equipment at risk of failure.
Support continuous improvement initiatives by updating procedures, checklists, and documentation based on operational experience.
Operator Training and SupportDevelop and conduct training for test operators on proper test stand operation, handling, routine inspections, and identification of potential issues.
Create operator‑facing materials such as quick‑reference guides, maintenance checklists, and instructional resources.
Promote a culture of equipment ownership and accountability to improve reliability and test quality.
Provide ongoing coaching and support, serving as a trusted resource for test stand‑related questions and troubleshooting assistance.

EducationAssociate degree, technical certification, or equivalent hands‑on experience in Electronics, Electrical Technology, Avionics, or a related technical field.
Experience and Technical SkillsMinimum of 3 years of experience supporting, maintaining, or operating automated test equipment in a manufacturing, production, or service environment.
Strong understanding of RF and electronic test equipment, including instrument functionality and troubleshooting techniques.
Experience working with RF connectors, cables, fixturing, and replacement of wear‑prone components.
Familiarity with test system hardware architecture, signal routing, switching systems, and cabling practices.
Proven troubleshooting skills with the ability to systematically diagnose and resolve equipment issues using technical documentation, test instruments, and practical experience. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with a focus on reliability, documentation, and continuous improvement.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with operators, technicians, engineers, and production leadership.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Wichita, KS.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $43.00 - $53.00/hr.
