Maintenance Technician

Reports to: Maintenance Director
Grade: I ($12.40–$17.90, based on experience and qualification)
This position requires a regular on‑site presence at our campus in Wichita, KS.
SummaryThe Maintenance Technician performs the cleaning and preventative maintenance necessary to keep New Spring Church in a clean and orderly condition. This role includes maintenance work for both outside and inside facilities, supporting the ongoing mission of the church while committed in accordance with the Baptist Faith and Message (2000 edition).
Essential Duties- Heavy cleaning of tiled and carpet floors using industrial equipment (approx. 20%).
- Performs routine maintenance activities including plumbing fixture repair, maintenance on cleaning equipment, door repair, and light bulb replacement, and notifies the Maintenance Director concerning major repairs or additions needed (approx. 15%).
- Performs general upkeep, cleaning and maintenance of the exterior property including picking up trash, power washing sidewalks and patios, cleaning building exteriors, landscaping projects, window cleaning, changing lights, and trimming bushes (approx. 15%).
- Sprays disinfectant in rooms, on play equipment and specific toys (approx. 15%).
- Moves heavy furniture, equipment and supplies, sets up and removes decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, and scaffolding for weekly activities or major events (approx. 15%).
- General cleaning and upkeep of campus buildings: dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, polishing furniture and fixtures, removing trash, and cleaning windows and mirrors (approx. 10%).
- Removes snow from sidewalks and parking areas using snow shovels and spreads snow‑melting chemicals (approx. 5%).
- Monitors building security and safety by locking doors after operating hours or setting alarm (approx. 5%).
Education/Training: A minimum of a high school diploma is required.
Experience: A minimum of one year of experience in a related field.

- Basic written, verbal, and math skills; capable of understanding and following instructions in both written and oral modes.
- Computer or mobile device competency.

- Understanding of cleaning chemicals and how they work when mixed together.
- Knowledge of hazmat procedures in case of accident.
- Ascending and descending stairs, ladders, steps, and/or ramps.
- Remaining in a standing position for prolonged periods.
- Operating industrial equipment.
- Using depth perception to judge distances.
- Viewing and operating technological devices.
- Clearly communicating verbally with others to exchange information.
- Working in outdoor weather conditions.
- Moving oneself in different positions, maintaining balance, to accomplish tasks in tight and confined spaces.
- Working at elevated distances from the ground using scaffolding or other aerial lifting commercial equipment.
- Exposure to caustic chemical cleaning agents.
- Manual dexterity, including grasping and gripping various tools.
- Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and moving up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to kneel, squat, bend, twist, or stoop.
- Ability to reach at, below, and above shoulder level.
This position works primarily indoors, with occasional outdoor work required.

- Thursday: 8:30 am – 12:30 pm
