Summary
Under general supervision performs work as needed to clean, maintain, and prepare for events at the facility. Duties include skilled and semi‑skilled tasks, requiring heavy lifting and significant physical exertion.
Responsibilities- Participate in all aspects of the conversion process in preparation for events, including setting up and tearing down flooring, portable chairs, operable walls, barricades, staging, tables, furnishings, and equipment.
- Load and unload delivery trucks, transport trash and waste to proper disposal areas, and replenish supplies.
- Assist with pre‑ and post‑event cleaning and janitorial tasks: sweeping, mopping, dusting, trash removal, vacuuming, spot cleaning, washing, stripping, carpet cleaning, window washing, and waxing.
- Perform repairs and maintenance: painting, patching, re‑laminating, replacing ceiling tiles, replacing filters, etc.
- Assist building engineers and subcontractors in construction, repair, and maintenance of the building.
- Report irregularities, discrepancies, safety or damage concerns or loss of property promptly to supervisor.
- Work extended and irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
- Work at all Wichita and Andover Legends Global venues.
- Knowledge of event set‑up and conversion practices and procedures.
- Familiarity with cleaning and maintenance methods and the proper use and care of hand and power tools.
- Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and strong communication skills.
- Ability to follow all policies, procedures, risk management, safety precautions, rules, regulations, and emergency procedures established at the facility.
- Physical ability to perform strenuous duties, including lifting, carrying, moving, and climbing, and to lift 75 lbs (with or without accommodation).
- Experience operating equipment such as light trucks, pallet jacks, forklifts, boom lifts, Zamboni machines, scrubbers or other light power‑driven equipment.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions and to organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work under pressure, independently, exercising judgment and initiative.
- Maintain effective working relationships with clients, employees, exhibitors, patrons, and others.
- Be licensed and insured to operate a motor vehicle in Kansas.
- Remain flexible and adapt to changing situations.
- High school diploma or G.E.D.; preferred.
- One (1) to three (3) years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience; preferred.
- On‑time performance.
- Work quickly and safely.
- Capacity to lift 75 lbs.
- Ability to take direction and listen.
- Willingness to take initiative.
The physical demands described include operating tools (hand and electric), forklift, scissor lift, and walking around the facility; requiring continuous standing or walking, hearing and speaking via two‑way radio, and indoor/outdoor work within seasonal temperatures, potentially exposed to extreme heat or cold.
