Who Are You?
You are an experienced, self-directed maintenance professional who is comfortable taking ownership of an assigned building and working with minimal day-to-day supervision.
As the primary Maintenance Technician supporting our Assisted Living community, you will often be working independently. You can assess a maintenance issue, determine the appropriate course of action, prioritize competing needs, and complete quality work without needing constant direction.
You're equally comfortable completing a remodel, troubleshooting a work order, addressing a Life Safety Code requirement, or interacting directly with a resident. You understand that in senior living, maintenance isn't just about fixing things—it's about maintaining a safe, reliable, and welcoming home for the people who live here.
A Day in the Life Serve as the primary Maintenance Technician for our Assisted Living community, independently managing day-to-day maintenance needs
Complete apartment remodels and renovations, including drywall, painting, carpentry, fixture replacement, flooring-related work, and other general improvements
Respond to and complete general resident and departmental maintenance work orders
Perform repairs involving plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, doors, locks, fixtures, and other building systems
Perform preventive maintenance and identify potential issues before they become larger repairs
Complete assigned Life Safety Code-related inspections, maintenance, repairs, and corrective work to help maintain a safe and compliant environment
Assist with apartment turnovers and prepare residences for new resident move-ins Troubleshoot maintenance issues and determine appropriate repair solutions with limited supervision
Prioritize work based on safety, urgency, resident impact, and operational needs
Maintain accurate documentation of completed work, inspections, and preventive maintenance activities
Coordinate with outside vendors and contractors when specialized service is required
Maintain clean, organized work areas and properly care for tools and equipment
Participate in the department's on-call rotation for after-hours maintenance emergencies
Collaborate with the broader Facilities team and assist with campus projects when needed
What We're Looking For High school diploma or GED required
Valid Kansas driver's license required
Minimum three (3) years of general building maintenance, facilities maintenance, construction, remodeling, or related trade experience preferred
