POSITION SUMMARY:
The Facilities and Maintenance Supervisor will be responsible for the overall cleanliness, maintenance, and improvements of YMCA facilities. This hands-on position supervises the custodial staff and works hand in hand with the maintenance staff. This position will ensure the cleanliness and safety of the YMCA facilities. In addition, perform repairs, maintenance, and selected improvements to buildings, pools, camps, and equipment that are within areas of expertise.
They will also coordinate with outside vendors as needed. Ensures the proper operation of all mechanical systems including the different pool systems.
- Supervises and is hands-on with the custodial staff.
- Requires to be hands-on and perform routine maintenance, and other manual labor.
- Must be intentional, strategic and able to manage multiple projects at one time.
- Has regular day-to-day contact with members, participants and staff and must enjoy customer service.
- Must be available on an on-call basis which may include weekends, nights, or early morning for repairs or issues that arise after scheduled work hours.
- Responsible for planning and implementation of facility cleaning, maintenance, and improvements. This includes planning and implementing all preventative maintenance schedules at all YMCA facilities.
- Completes repair work and projects in a timely manner requiring balancing day-to-day and long-term needs.
- Oversee all contractors that work in the facilities and grounds. May be requested and review bids and recommend selection of contractors.
- Ensures the proper operation of all mechanical systems, which include the pools.
- Works with outside agencies such as fire, health, building department, etc. to ensure compliance with all local, state and federal regulations related to facilities and grounds. Maintain current building licenses and permits.
- Trains, develops, schedules and directs assigned staff. Will assist in the reviews and evaluates team’s performance.
- Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
- Establish and maintain an accurate inventory of all YMCA janitorial and maintenance supplies.
- Updates facility plans periodically. May develop annual plan of capital projects, consistent with the YMCA’s strategic plan and community needs.
- Works collaboratively with childcare, healthy living, membership and all other staff in support of our cause.
- Ensures a level of service and engagement that fosters loyalty among those we serve.
- Ensures proper implementation of procedures. Reviews and updates procedures and communicates changes to staff in a clear, concise way.
- Works with the Executive Directors on purchases to ensure they are within the budget parameters.
- Ensures the safety and maintenance of high-quality facilities, grounds, and equipment. Ensure the Emergency Action Plan is current.
- Responsible for internally communicating facility updates through email and other mediums.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Certified Pool Operator, or will take the exam to become certified
- CPR/First Aid certifications
- Previous supervisory experience, preferably in facilities and/or maintenance.
- Ability to manage and lead through ambiguity and work across departments toward a common goal.
- Serve as a collaborative and supportive member of the management team.
- Personal computer skills and experience with standard business software is required.
Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
