NMRLC - Container Mechanic III

Overview

We are seeking a Container Mechanic III for our client site in Williamsburg, VA. The successful candidate will have outstanding skills and will be committed to working with others to deliver best-in-class, unparalleled excellence in customer service and satisfaction.

The Container Mechanic III main responsibility is to perform preventative and corrective maintenance of containers used for national and international shipping distribution supporting the Navy Medical Readiness Logistic Command’s (NMRLC) Expeditionary Medical System (EXMED) mission.

• Follow the Institute of International Container Lessors (IICL) guidelines to assure the structural integrity of each intermodal equipment.
• Perform systematic inspections and repairs to intermodal equipment including flat racks, shelters, and containers
• Maintain documentation of inspections and repairs performed in the appropriate database.
• Perform repairs and restructures on intermodal equipment using a variety of hand and power tools, including Stick and MIG welding
• Perform mechanical skills including, but not limited to, welding, replacing damaged structures, damaged floors, doors, & container roofs and side panels
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment at all times by cleaning, organizing, removing safety hazards, oil spills, spare parts, etc. within warehouse
• Maintain awareness of surroundings (i.e. vehicles, people checking equipment, etc.) at all times.
• Safely operates a forklift.
• Must maintain a clean work area, free of debris or safety hazards.

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of 10+ years of experience in maintenance, inspection repair, alteration, overhaul and certification of ISO containers and 3:1 Configurable Shelters. Knowledge of CSC regulatory requirements for shipment of containers. Knowledge of the certification process in accordance with MIL-STD-3037.
• Convention for Safe Containers (CSC), and ability to obtain ISPM 15 certification and certification to operate a 4-30k forklifts.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security access badge at the client’s site.
• Must have a valid state driver’s license
• Must be able to work independently and as a team member.
• Ability to read, write, and speak Basic English
• Must be able to accurately process alpha/numeric information.
• Ability to function effectively in a fast paced, team-oriented work environment
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision and strong initiative
• Ability to think logically, follow procedures, instructions and make sound decisions

• Ability to work at an accelerated pace under emergencies or operational demands.
• Candidate must wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Requirements include walking, standing, reaching, bending, and moving items.
• Required to lift and carry weight over 45 pounds.
• Must be able to work in an Austere environment.
