Essential Job FunctionsEssential responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Perform a wide variety of heavy labor and semi-skilled maintenance tasks.
- Perform preventative maintenance on airport buildings.
- Operate airport equipment safely and effectively to include snow equipment, sweepers, light/medium trucks, stripers, tractors, riding mowers, etc.
- Perform maintenance upkeep on airport equipment and groundskeeping.
- Perform rough carpentry work and assist with electrical, mechanical, and facility maintenance projects
- Monitor deviations from federal, state and airport operating rules and regulations and issues work orders as required.
- Carry out responsibilities outlined in the Airport Emergency Plan (AEP).
- Conduct thorough terminal inspections and occasionally perform janitorial duties.
- Communicate effectively with airport administration, airport operations, contractors, tenants, other officials, and the public.
- Oversee contract services related to airport facilities and operations.
- Represent the Airport and City of Williston in a professional manner through positive customer interactions.
- Conduct facility and terminal inspections; assist with janitorial or hands-on tasks as needed.
- Perform all duties in accordance with City of Williston policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Airport Director or Assistant Airport Director.

- High school diploma; and satisfactory work experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Skills and Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Must possess a valid ND Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), or ability to obtain one within 180 days of employment and maintain a motor vehicle record compatible with the City’s insurance company’s criteria.
- Prior work experience operating and maintaining equipment and facilities.
- Through in-house training or through training arranged by the City of Williston, must be able to become certified in the following areas:
- Acquires all licenses and/or certifications currently required, or as may be required, by regulatory agencies.
- Ability to perform the duties of this classification.
- Individual must be willing and able to work all shifts, including nights, weekends, & holidays.
- Ability to work in and support a teamwork environment.
- Strong computer skills with ability to effectively utilize programs such as the Microsoft suite with ability to learn new programs introduced in the future.
- Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Skills and Qualifications
- 1 year of maintenance experience preferred.
Training opportunities available to obtain desired certifications for incumbents past the 12-month probation window and who have met the minimum certificate, license, and registration requirements.
Language SkillsAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, standard operating guidelines, operations & maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language effectively.
Reasoning AbilityAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables.
