This position performs semi‑skilled jobs in a variety of trade areas, including replacing parts, making minor adjustments to machinery, and repairing buildings, equipment, and miscellaneous items. Work is carried out according to established procedures and detailed instructions are provided for new or complex tasks.

The duties include maintaining the structural integrity, energy efficiency, security, and physical appearance of building facilities and equipment, and making minor repairs to ensure the safety of occupants and extend the usefulness of the structures.

• Knowledge Of:
  • Different types of flooring/floor covering and proper methods of maintenance.
  • Chemical cleaning agents and their safe handling and disposal.
  • Methods, tools, and equipment used in maintenance for effective and safe operation and minor repairs.
  • Painting products and the process of application.
• Ability To:
  • Maintain physical health and endurance sufficient to perform work functions.
  • Follow simple oral and written instructions.
  • Perform assigned tasks with limited work direction.
  • Keep simple records.
  • Hold a Class D driver’s license.
  • Obtain forklift certification within six months of hire.

• Special Boilers License
• Experience operating powered lawn care/snow removal equipment
• Commercial janitorial experience

The job requires routine use of gross and fine hand dexterity, reaching, bending, working from heights and overhead, using power tools, machinery, and hand tools, and frequent lifting and carrying of supplies and parts up to 50 pounds, occasionally up to 100 pounds with assistance. The work environment includes vision, noise, vibration, respiratory and chemical hazards.
