Bethesda Housekeeper

Job Summary:

Keep assigned areas clean, sanitized, and aseptic by scrubbing, mopping, spot cleaning window washing, carpet vacuuming, dusting, and other typical housekeeping tasks. Keep workstations carts and supply areas clean and well stocked.

Job Relationships:

  • Reports to:

    Environmental Services Supervisor.
  • Internal Contacts:
    Nursing Staff, Maintenance, and Residents and Scheduling.
  • External Contacts:
    Residents, family, and friends.
  • Hours of Work: 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Every other Weekend and Every other holiday. Part-time and full-time hours available.

    Dress Code:
    Clean, fitted scrubs in solid colors or simple patterns. Bethesda shirts. Black, khaki, or jeans with no holes or rips. Footwear:
    Closed-toe, comfortable, slip-resistant shoes. Hair and Hygiene:
    Maintain a high standard of cleanliness, oral hygiene and deodorant. Neatly tied back if long. Identification:
    Visible name badge, worn on chest area. PPE:
    Compliance with facility guidelines for masks, gloves, goggles, etc. if applicable. Piercings:
    Covered or removed if posing infection or safety risk. Tattoos:
    Covered if unprofessional or offensive. General Appearance:
    Clean, well-maintained attire.

    Essential Requirement of Work:

  • Previous housekeeping experience preferable.
  • Ability to read and follow directions.
  • Highly developed sense of responsibility to be able to work independently.
  • Commitment to excellence in cleaning and sanitizing.
  • Ability to cooperate with others.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Ability for Full Performance:

  • Knowledge of general work routines for all areas.
  • Knowledge of procedures.
  • Working knowledge of procedures for chemical four system and chemicals.
  • Knowledge of Bethesda's personnel policies.
  • Physical Demands of the Job:

  • Continual walking and standing.
  • Life weights of 20-40 pounds occasionally.
  • Frequent twisting, bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling movements.
  • Occasional squatting, kneeling, sitting, reaching above shoulder levels.

    Maintain residents' rooms in neat and tidy order.

  • Wipe down light fixtures on walls.
  • Wipe down bed rails as needed.
  • Wipe down all pictures and nick knacks.
  • Wipe off nightstands and dressers.
  • Change dollies.
  • Wipe down doors and closet doors.
  • Wash mirrors.
  • Empty garbage.
  • Sweep floor.
  • Mop floor.
  • Wash windows.
  • Wash resident wheelchairs, commodes, and other resident equipment in room.
  • Sanitizing the room cords button telephones TV remotes
  • Clean the Refrigerator in the residents rooms
  • Dust and Clean baseboards
  • Responsibility:
    Maintain cleanliness of residents' bathrooms.

  • Clean vents.
  • Clean sinks and toilets/comodes.
  • Clean mirrors.
  • Clean all pipes.
  • Empty wastebaskets.
  • Supply toilet paper, and soaps as needed and check batteries.
  • Scrub floor.
  • Clean Shower and Shower equipment.

  • Dust and clean Baseboards
  • Responsibility:
    Clean soiled utility room.

  • Clean counter and sink.
  • Clean hopper.
  • Clean sterilization sink and drainer.
  • Wipe down walls as needed.
  • Empty garbage.
  • Fill soap and hand towels.
  • Fill disinfectant jugs.
  • Sweep and mop floor.
  • Dust and Clean Baseboards
  • Responsibility:
    Keep hallways clean.

  • Clean handrails.
  • Clean chairs.
  • Wipe down pictures and artificial flowers.
  • Refill hand sanitizers and check the batteries.
  • Dust and Clean Baseboards
  • Responsibility:
    Clean dining area.

  • Wash and disinfect all tables as needed.
  • Sweep and mop floor.
  • Make sure chairs are clean.
  • Wipe down piano, TV, pictures, and nick knacks once a week or as needed.

    Clean all Public and Employee bathrooms.

  • Wipe vents.
  • Clean sink and toilet.
  • Empty garbage.
