$27 an hour

Fringe Benefits
  • Vacation:
    Accumulate three (3) days of vacation leave for every two (2) months actually worked during the term (October 1 – March 31).
  • Sick Leave:
    Accumulate two and a half (2.5) days of sick leave for every two (2) months actually worked during the term (October 1 – March 31).
  • Personal Leave:
    Accumulate one (1) day of personal leave for every three (3) months actually worked during the term (October 1 – March 31).
  • Paid Holidays:
    Receive the same paid holidays as other bargaining unit members for holidays that fall within the months actually worked during the term (October 1 – March 31).
  • Cash Payment in Lieu of Health Insurance Coverage:
    Receive three thousand dollars ($3,000) at the end of every two (2) months actually worked during the term (October 1 – March 31) in lieu of health coverage under the Board‑provided coverage.
  • Severance;
    Other Fringe Benefits:
    No additional benefits.

  • Either the Board or the Employee may terminate the employment relationship upon giving the other party at least ninety (90) days’ prior written notice of such termination.

Job Objective

Perform all duties required for the routine care, protection, and preservation of the district's landscaped areas. Maintain all athletic fields. Assist custodians.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent technical/trade school training is preferred.
  • Valid Ohio Driver's License. Class B CDL preferred.
  • Evidence of a clear record as determined by the Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation (BCII) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
  • Basic knowledge of grounds management, associated supplies, and equipment.
  • Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to express important information to supervisors and administrators in writing.
  • Custodial and/or maintenance work experience.
  • Proficiency in boiler operations.
  • Knowledge and skill to perform basic electrical, carpentry, plumbing, and mechanical repairs.
  • Knowledge of computerized control systems is desirable.
  • Knowledge of schematic diagrams and blueprints is desirable.
  • Ability to obtain Core Pesticide Applicator, Ornamental Pest Control; 6C, General Pest Control Category 10a License from the ODA.
  • Ability to interpret and comply with OSHA and environmental issues requirements.
Job Duties , Responsibilities, and Essential Functions
  • Comply with district policies, procedures, and adopted performance objectives.
  • Prioritize and complete authorized work orders and new projects, except in emergencies.
  • Perform seasonal activities anticipating weather conditions (e.g., mow grass, fertilize, seed, trim trees and shrubs).
  • Perform housekeeping tasks (e.g., removal of all debris such as leaves, paper, and litter).
  • Prepare athletic fields according to all policies, regulations, and provisions of State of Ohio Sports' Medicine, Ohio High School Athletic Association, and conference/league rules.
  • Learn operation and maintenance procedures for all grounds keeping equipment; keep current with advances in equipment technology.
  • Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs to prevent premature equipment failure (e.g., fluid levels, lubrication, fans, belts, fittings).
  • Perform regular inspections of grounds, custodial, and maintenance equipment to ensure safe operating conditions. Report damaged equipment to the Maintenance Department.
  • Assist other custodians and maintenance personnel when necessary.
  • Requisition and maintain an inventory of supplies necessary for routine grounds keeping activities.
  • Verify district activity schedules to determine if a program or special event requires preparation or cleanup.
