Position: Custodian
Department: Facilities
Reports to: Custodial & Warehouse Supervisor (1st Level) / Facilities Director (2nd Level)
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (Hourly) – Service Employees International Union Local 32 BJ District 1201

Schedule: Part Time, 12 Months

Maintains the safety and cleanliness of the assigned facility and performs light maintenance as directed. This position is classified as emergency personnel.

• Maintains cleanliness of assigned bathroom areas and replenishes supplies such as soap dispensers, toilet paper, and paper towel.
• Cleans and maintains assigned areas daily: empty trash, dust, sweep, mop/wet mop, wash surfaces.
• Utilizes power equipment such as scrubbers and waxing equipment for heavier cleaning when assigned.
• Secures facility as directed.
• Light painting as directed.
• Shovel/salt walkways surrounding the facility as assigned.
• Maintain cleanliness of outside area surrounding the facility as assigned.
• Classified as emergency personnel; must report for designated duties during inclement weather; time and duties assigned by Director of Facilities and/or Custodial & Warehouse Supervisor.
• Other duties as assigned.

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of two years of prior work experience as a custodian.
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to work in extreme (hot or cold) weather conditions.
• Ability to report to work in inclement weather conditions.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, crawl for an 8‑hour shift.
• Must successfully complete and maintain compliance with all federal and state background and criminal record checks.
• Candidate must adhere to all local, state, federal, and school code requirements for employment.
