4th Grade General Education Teacher
We are excited to welcome a new staff member to Avoca West Elementary School for our 26 - 27 school year to support our 4th grade students. Planning and instruction shall be grounded in best practices regarding 4th grade general education instruction. Regular collaboration with the 4th grade team in order to build a standards- aligned curriculum.
Essential Functions Skills and Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons that align with state and national standards for 4th grade students.
- Develop instructional materials to support learning.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students, ensuring all learners are supported and challenged.
- Assess student progress regularly through formal and informal evaluations, such as quizzes, projects, and class participation.
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters a love of learning and respects cultural diversity.
- Integrate technology into lessons to enhance learning and student engagement.
- Collaborate with other teachers to reinforce skills in cross-curricular activities.
- Provide feedback and communicate with parents about student progress, behavior, and areas for improvement.
- Maintain classroom discipline in accordance with school policies, promoting respectful behavior and responsible work habits.
Language & Instructional
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of 4th grade content in ELA, Math, Science and Social Studies
- Ability to teach through engaging and interactive methods
- Classroom management skills to maintain a positive learning environment
- Ability to differentiate instruction for diverse learning styles and abilities
- Strong lesson planning and curriculum development skills
Experience with formative and summative assessment strategies
Interpersonal & Communication
Skills:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to build relationships with students, parents, and colleagues
- Cultural competency to foster an inclusive and diverse classroom
- Patience and adaptability to support learners at different levels
- Ability to provide constructive feedback to students
Technology & Innovation:
- Familiarity with educational technology and digital tools for learning
- Ability to integrate multimedia resources (videos, online games, apps) into lessons
- Proficiency in using learning management systems (Google Classroom, Canvas, etc.)
Professional & Organizational
Skills:
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Collaboration skills to work with other teachers and school staff
- Commitment to professional growth and continuing education
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Standing, bending, kneeling, crouching, and walking
- Seeing; looking at a computer screen/reading data
- Fine finger dexterity
- Regularly working at assigned site(s)
- Some lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 15 lbs.
Education +
Experience:
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License Elementary Endorsement
Compensation + Benefits:
- Daily pay rate = $300.16
