The After School Enrichment (ASE) Site Coordinator ensures a high‑quality, engaging, and developmentally appropriate enrichment experience for all participants. The ASE Site Coordinator is responsible for overseeing program quality by supporting the implementation of engaging enrichment activities and coordinating with vendor instructors to ensure successful program delivery, effective communication, and a positive participant experience. This is a PT 2 position, with the benefits listed below.
SupervisoryDuties
- Supervise and ensure the safety of participants and vendor instructors at all times.
- Provide guidance to vendor instructors while onsite in adhering to program quality standards.
- Serve as the on‑site point person during emergency situations and ensure vendor instructors and participants follow procedures as documented.
- Implement and execute program activities with school‑aged program staff.
- Supervise snack time with participants.
- Maintain daily attendance records.
- Assist in daily participant arrival and departure procedures.
- Maintain a positive relationship with all employees, participants, parents, vendors, and volunteers.
- Communicate any site, employee, vendor, participant, behavioral, or disciplinary problems to the Recreation Supervisor.
- Keep assigned areas clean and sanitized as needed.
- Support high‑quality programs.
- Make effective decisions and communicate well with fellow team members, vendor instructors, parents, and participants.
- Actively uphold and contribute to the Wilmette Park District Comprehensive and Strategic Plan, including Guiding Principles and Strategic Priorities.
- Actively contribute to the Park District's sustainability goals.
- Actively support the safety program that will effectively control and reduce accidents.
- Obey safety rules, regulations and procedures established by the Wilmette Park District safety program pertinent to the department activities.
- Become familiar with and follow safety procedures such as fire, severe weather and evacuation procedures.
- Report all unsafe actions, practices or conditions observed to immediate supervisor, or Human Resources/Risk Management division promptly.
- Attend and participate in required safety training.
- Minimum age: 18 years
- Previous experience in childcare or an educational setting
- Engage with children in a warm, supportive, and structured manner.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Dependability, flexibility, and a team‑player attitude.
- Lead or assist with games, group activities, and small projects.
- Clear decision‑making and problem‑solving skills.
- Work independently and as part of a team.
- Positive energy, initiative, and genuine interest in working with children.
- Exposure to cleaning and disinfecting supplies.
- Ability to lift and/or move 25 pounds.
- Frequently required to stand and walk.
- Occasionally required to sit, climb, or balance.
- The work noise level is generally moderate to loud.
- Valid Illinois Driver’s License.
- CPR/First Aid certification required within six months of hire (provided by WPD).
- Completion of annual District trainings:
Sexual Harassment, Bloodborne Pathogens, and Mandated Reporter training.
- Indoor with smoke‑free environment, controlled temperature, fluorescent lighting.
- Outdoor work area varies by season.
- Noise level usually moderate.
Closely follows the 2026–2027 D39 School Calendar. Monday–Thursday: 3:00PM–5:00PM. General hours of duty approved by the Recreation Supervisor‑General Recreation.
