(Part-time, Long-Term Substitute)

With an enrollment of 2000 students, Loyola Academy offers a rigorous and relevant curriculum, a highly developed visual and performing arts program, a diversity of athletic and co-curricular activities, and a strong retreat and service learning program.

We anticipate needing a long-term substitute teacher to cover a leave of absence. The substitute teacher will be responsible for three sections of history classes from February
- May, 2027

.

The
Social Studies Teacher's primary role is to oversee and manage all responsibilities including but not limited to their classroom. This includes visioning, coordination, project management, conflict resolution, budgeting, academic and curricular enrichment, and professional development.

The
Social Studies
Teacher
needs to be a person who models cura personalis with the entire community – students, parents, faculty, and staff members. The minimum qualifications are required:

  • Commitment to the principles of Jesuit education as set forth in Loyola Academy's mission statement and the Profile of the Jesuit High School Graduate at Graduation
  • Ability to teach AP US History and AP African American Studies
  • Awareness of modern pedagogical best practices
  • Highly collaborative and coachable team player
  • Effective and positive communication and collaboration skills
  • Experience teaching in a 1:1 iPad environment preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree required, Masters in Social Studies education or History
Primary Responsibilities

Expectations for part-time faculty members include:

  • Teaching three classes (0.6 FTE)
  • Teaching and leading students in accordance with Ignatian educational principles and the mission of Loyola Academy
  • Build and maintain relationships with members of the business community to help mentor students in entrepreneurship classes
  • Working collaboratively with the department and its course teams in the development of an academically challenging curriculum
  • Maintaining proper records and communication with parents and school officials
  • Participating in the co-curricular life of the students and the school
  • Modeling the  Graduate at Graduation  qualities
  • Participating in departmental and school-wide professional development
  • Collegial academic leader
  • Strong communicator and collaborator
  • Engaging and approachable
  • Highly organized and self-directed

Compensation will be pro-rated for part time work based on Loyola Academy's model attached.
