Seasonal Retail Planting Foreman

Chalet is a fourth generation, family owned retailer that has served our community for over 100 years. We sell a variety of products including outdoor plants, indoor plants, garden products, outdoor furniture, home and holiday decorations, and pet food/supplies.

We have an opportunity for a new team member who likes to work mostly outside in a very physical job. You'll primarily be responsible for preparing our Nursery to be ready for the busy Spring season, with trees, shrubs and other plants ready for customers to purchase and then leading a planting crew to plant customer purchases at their homes.

Responsibilities include:

• Unloading tree and shrub trucks.
• Setting up the Nursery yard.
• Unhealing the trees and shrubs that were put away for the winter.
• Planting purchases made by retail customers.
• Leading a planting crew of 2 or 3 (1 or 2 other people besides yourself).
• Helping with deliveries as needed.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

• We're looking for helpful, hardworking and accountable people who can lift at least 40 pounds (75 pounds ideally).
• Being comfortable working actively and being on your feet for 8 or 9 hour shifts.
• Experience in retail, customer service, inventory, plant care or landscape preferred.
• Previous planting and/or supervising experience is a plus.
• Bilingual (English and Spanish) is a plus.
• You must be at least 18 years old with a valid driver's license and clean driving record for this position.

Schedule and benefits:

• This position requires 40+ hours weekly with a schedule of 4 weekdays and Saturdays, 7am-4pm or 8am-5pm daily. Open availability during the week and the flexibility to work a sixth day as needed are a plus.
• The season would start in March or April and last through beginning of November with possibility of shifts until mid-December, maybe into January if customers need tree removals. We're open to candidates that would need to end sooner.
• You would be eligible for sick pay and our employee discount.
