General Responsibilities
The person in this position will work under the general direction of the Street Superintendent and will be responsible for the maintenance of landscape beds, including but not limited to watering, pruning/trimming, cultivating, mulching, the installation of shrubs, annuals, bulbs, and perennials, and any other related work assignments. The essential functions of this job will require the individual to drive a Village vehicle and perform extensive physical manual labor tasks to include walking, bending, reaching and other related tasks as assigned.
Position RequirementsThe successful candidate must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., be a high school graduate or equivalent (at least 18 years of age) and possess a valid Class D driver’s license. The candidate should have experience in landscaping work and be familiar with hand tools and other equipment used in the industry. The successful candidate will be required to provide their own safety boots meeting or exceeding the ASTM F2413 standard for protective footwear;
all other PPE will be provided by the Village.
The 2026 starting hourly rate is $20.20 and 8 hours of paid time off (PTO). After the initial 320 hours of time worked, an additional hour of PTO will be earned for every additional 40 hours worked. Selection ProcessThe hiring process will entail an interview with members of Public Works. A candidate who receives a conditional offer of employment will need to successfully complete a pre‑employment physical examination and back evaluation, a drug and alcohol screening, reference checks, and a driver’s license record verification.
