Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, Building Maintenance
Position Scope
The Mary Campbell Center is first, last, and always, home to 68 residents. Together, staff ensures services are delivered with a high degree of quality, in a homelike environment where residents live with respect, personal dignity, and independence to the fullness of their abilities. The Maintenance Mechanic assists the Director of Facilities in performing repairs and maintenance to the building, grounds and vehicle operations of the Center.
The Maintenance Mechanic must work reliably, effectively, efficiently, and with respect for residents, staff, families, volunteers, professional consultants, and the physical environment of the Center.
- be a good person of high character who consistently works with a positive attitude and demonstrates compassion and understanding for residents with varying degrees of disability;
- have the ability to read, write and follow verbal instructions;
- possess an excellent mechanical aptitude and skill in the use of tools required to complete task;
- demonstrate the ability to perform basic maintenance repairs for vehicles, lawn, garden and snow removal equipment;
- have the ability to lift, push, pull equipment and supplies of varying weights up to 50 lbs;
- Minimum 5 years experience in maintenance or a related trade;
- possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Performs routine maintenance tasks including, but not limited to, completing assigned monthly audits, general repairs and preventive maintenance to the building/grounds
- Performs basic repairs to electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems throughout the building
- Completes maintenance work orders
- Required to become Guldmann certified to work on ceiling lifts (certification will be provided by the facility)
- Ability to performs maintenance and repair on all wheelchairs
- Ability to perform general maintenance on vehicles and grounds equipment
- Assists with grounds keeping and snow removal when necessary
- Participates in the Maintenance-On-Call rotation
- Assists with transportation of residents when necessary
- Assures OSHA standards are maintained while performing all duties
- Performs other assigned duties as necessary
The Maintenance Mechanic works indoors and outdoors, in a variety of weather conditions including extreme heat and cold, with exposure fuels, odors, and/or chemicals. The Maintenance Mechanic may lift, push, and operate heavy equipment which, if not properly used, could cause injury. Incumbent may work extended and/or flexible hours to meet the needs of the Center.
