Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Overview
The Division of Fish & Wildlife conserves and manages Delaware’s fish and wildlife and their habitats, providing fishing, hunting, wildlife viewing and boating access on nearly 65,000 acres of public land. This role supports the day‑to‑day operation of the Ommelanden Hunter Education Training Center and public shooting range.
Essential Functions- Operate, load, and maintain trap and skeet machines.
- Ensure safety of range participants using rifle and pistol ranges.
- Use, care for, and store firearms responsibly.
- Demonstrate reliability, dependability, and clear communication.
- Perform general grounds maintenance, including trash removal, grass cutting, and minor building repairs such as painting.
- Assist with facility cleaning and upkeep.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Minimum 18 years of age.
- Knowledge of firearms use, care, and safety.
- Knowledge of general grounds maintenance functions and equipment.
- Basic maintenance repair skills.
- Valid driver’s license (non‑suspended, revoked, cancelled, or disqualified).
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States. The State of Delaware participates in the Federal E‑Verify system.
Criminal background check required. All new hires must attend Statewide New Employee Orientation on their first day.
