Position description:
The Maintenance Assistant should support the Maintenance Director in carrying out various facility improvements, preventative tasks & repairs to assure that the facility is maintained in a safe and comfortable manner. Duties and responsibilities:
- Ensures that established infection control & standard precaution practices are maintained when performing maintenance procedures.
- Follow established policies governing the use/disposal of personal protective equipment and disposal of infectious waste.
- Perform routine maintenance on grounds, parking areas, driveways etc. by cutting, trimming, policing, sweeping, snow removal, etc., as necessary/directed.
- Perform routine maintenance and repair on the facility and equipment to include plumbing, plastering, electrical, carpentry, mechanical, etc., as directed, in accordance with established policies.
- Service heating and cooling units/systems, as specified by the manufacturer, and in compliance with established policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Must possess, at minimum, a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 2 years' experience in maintenance role.
- Sound knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electric, carpentry & mechanical systems (including relevant equipment & tools).
- Experience working in a healthcare, long-term care environment or with the elderly preferred.
- Knowledge of safety regulations preferred.
