Maintenance Technician / Mechanic

Christiana Care is looking for a full-time Maintenance and Inspection Technician I in Wilmington, Delaware to provide cost effective routine inspection and verification services to critical building components and systems such as fire rated door and wall assemblies to ensure safe and proper operating conditions.
The Inspection Technician will complete all associated documentation in a timely manner to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Hours:
7:30a - 4:00p
- Performs routine inspection procedures on critical building components and systems as required by regulatory agencies and or manufacturer requirements.
- Note any deficiencies identified or abnormal conditions found.
- Perform quick interventions or repairs to correct any noted deficiencies to ensure safe and proper operation and allow for an immediate successful re-inspection.
- Creates work orders for any failed inspection components to expedite a timely repair.
- Evaluate the need for interim measures to be taken prior to final repair completion.
- Assists in inspection of new components and equipment as a function of initial acceptance.
- Collects data on new components and equipment requiring inspection and verify tasks and frequencies meet all regulatory and manufacturer requirements.
- Prioritizes, schedules, and completes assigned work tasks.
- Deliver prompt and courteous service to customers.
- Communicate effectively to staff information concerning the inspections performed within their area.
- Schedules and coordinates inspection or repair with contractors as needed.
- Develops and orders parts for inspections and repairs as needed.
- Maintains an adequate inventory for these parts and supplies.
- Completes all associated paperwork accurately and timely to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Utilizes computer-based inventory system to note deficiencies.
- Attends staff meetings and participates in other meetings and seminars as required.
- Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices.
- Reports in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors.
- Utilizes MS Office suite and associated computer programs and tablet devices and their associated applications for work completion and information exchange.
- Performs other related duties as required and assist other crafts as needed.
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Five years practical maintenance experience.
- Hospital experience preferred.
- Knowledge of CCHS policies and procedures
- Prioritize workload and solve problems independently
- Knowledge of procedures prescribed by shop and vendor manuals
- Skill in solving mechanical and analytical problems
- Skill in oral and written communication
- Skill in operating all types of hand and power tools and electrical test equipment (i.e. screwdrivers, pliers, pipe wrenches, drills, saws, grinders, etc.)
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical systems
Walking, lifting, bending/stooping, reaching, and climbing
Working conditionsExposure to oils, grease, chemical fumes, dust, heat and noise.

This position has a starting rate of $20.79 per hour, regardless of prior experience. After six months of continuous employment, the hourly rate will automatically increase to $24.45 per hour. After one year of continuous employment, the hourly rate will automatically increase to $25.66. This pay rate/range represents Christiana Care’s good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting.
