Floor Technician
Job OverviewThe Floor Technician will be responsible for safely performing assigned floor care functions based on standards and procedures, performing environmental services as needed, and providing floor care such as waxing, stripping, buffing, and other contractual duties according to regulations.
Roles & Responsibilities- Comply with safety rules, policies, and procedures. Stop at risk behaviors in others and self.
- Work with other employees in a team to complete assignments.
- Perform repetitive tasks.
- Maintain a clean work area.
- Follow all company procedures, policies, and rules.
- Take direction and respond to supervision.
- Talk with lead, supervisor, co‑workers, managers, and customers in a professional manner.
- Fill in during staff shortages, such as in custodial, recycle, or maintenance.
- Support shift lead in completing punch‑list items.
- Use proper personal protective equipment required for assigned tasks.
- Present a professional appearance and conduct.
- Understand customer service and satisfaction.
- Understand reporting systems and the environment.
- Operate motorized cleaning equipment.
- Maintain daily upkeep of assigned area.
- Perform cleaning and maintenance of all floors: tile, carpet, and brick flooring.
- Complete work assignments in a timely manner.
- Utilize the appropriate chemicals and supplies according to procedure.
- Use and maintain equipment properly.
- Operate and maintain all equipment correctly and safely.
- Always observe safety precautions, using safety signs “wet floor.”
- Work without normal supervision.
- Report safety hazards as appropriate.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform this job safely.
- No specific education requirement; 6 months–1 year of experience preferred.
- Valid driver’s license may be required.
- Completion of safety and task training certification.
- Forklift certification may be required.
- Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment and willingness to share with the team.
- Knowledge of the upkeep and care of the cleaning equipment.
- Knowledge of cleaning compounds and chemicals, and their safe, efficient use.
- Frequent sitting, talking, or listening; must be able to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.
- The work environment includes a facility environment; reasonable accommodations may be made for disabilities.
$19.00–$20.00 per hour
ShiftTuesday–Saturday 6:30pm–2:30am
