Shenandoah University’s Department of Custodial Services is accepting applications for a Custodial training Team Lead. This is a full-time, benefited position located on our main campus in Winchester, VA.
This position will serve as a mentor for new Custodian hires for their first few weeks at SU, provide additional training to current employees (with a working knowledge of SU cleaning standards) and mentor coworkers as needed.
Team leads will create an inspiring team environment with an open communication culture with their group. Team leads will set clear team goals - Leads will work with new hires to train them on SU cleaning standards and current employees to ensure they are operating at SU standards, they will provide feedback to their teams and update management as needed. Also leads will deliver supplies and cover buildings when custodians are absent.

- Knowledge of standard cleaning methods and procedures
- Ability to stand, walk, and bend for many hours
- Must be able to lift 50 lb
- Meet physical requirements for essential job functions; which include bending, lifting, pulling, reaching above the head, moving light furniture
- Ability to perform repetitive motion for long periods of time
- Ability to lift heavy objects, climb ladders and work at particular height
- Experience with using cleaning equipment, including vacuum cleaners, floor buffers, and cleaning solutions
- Background in handling, mixing and using cleaning chemicals
- Knowledge of occupational hazards safety rules. Training skills are a plus.
- Must have excellent communication skills, dependability and reliability are a must.
Pre-employment background check and urine screening will be required, and a satisfactory driving record may be required as a condition of hire.
