Position: Predictive Maintenance Technician - (Days M-F)

Job Summary

Perform Maintenance duties as necessary in Maintenance and Predictive Maintenance to ensure service to dairy processing and packaging equipment and auxiliary equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Analyze mechanical problems of dairy processing and packaging equipment and auxiliary equipment, and assist manufacturing personnel on process‑related problems.
  • Operate shop equipment such as welder, metal lathe, and drill press, and use all hand tools as required for industrial equipment maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot and monitor plant equipment and utility systems.
  • Assist machine operators in determining when machines should be shut down due to mechanical or electrical problems.
  • Perform established preventive maintenance procedures on plant equipment and complete appropriate documentation.
  • Maintain inventory and requisition replacement parts for maintenance activities.
  • Execute assigned projects under the direction of the maintenance coordinator.
  • Follow up to ensure all work was completed satisfactorily.
  • Stay current with technology and continue education related to job skills.
  • Work overtime as needed during breakdowns and scheduled maintenance, including possible call‑in for emergency situations.
  • Maintain accurate daily records in the CMMS.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Abide by all GMPs, safety standards, environmental regulations, and company policies.
  • Coordinate with Operations, Engineering, and Maintenance teams to prioritize reliability improvements focusing on equipment OEE.
  • Perform and document predictive maintenance inspections and condition‑monitoring activities on production equipment.
  • Utilize predictive technologies such as vibration analysis, infrared thermography, ultrasonic testing, oil analysis, laser alignment, and other reliability tools to identify potential equipment failures.
  • Assist the coordinator in developing predictive technologies and preventive work orders to maximize equipment reliability.
  • Support the identification of new or novel predictive maintenance technology and pilot programs.
  • Develop procedures and practices for using testing equipment such as laser alignment, vibration analysis, infrared analysis, leak detection, and lubrication failure modes.
  • Assist in the development, planning, and scheduling for predictive work orders across the plant.
  • Participate in root‑cause investigations and continuous improvement projects to enhance equipment performance.
  • Assist the PDM coordinator in leading HP Hood network‑wide communication of pilot programs and best practices for predictive maintenance.
  • Train team members on predictive maintenance techniques and best practices.
  • Perform any additional duties assigned by management.
Education and Experience
  • GED or High School Diploma.
  • At least 3+ years of experience in manufacturing.
  • Prior experience in industrial maintenance.
Skills and Competencies
  • Intermediate computer skills (e.g., Word, Excel).
  • Excellent troubleshooting experience.
  • Ability to work well with people.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Ability to work independently.
Physical Requirements
  • Standing for long periods (minimum 8+ hours).
  • Sitting occasionally for short periods.
  • Walking for long periods.
  • Bending frequently.
  • Lifting heavy objects (50+ lbs) frequently.
  • Carrying heavy objects (40–60 lbs) frequently.
  • Push/pull under 75 lbs without assistance frequently.
Performance Standards
  • Comply with performance criteria, conduct, employment procedures, and responsibilities described in the HP Hood Guidebook and applicable site supplement.
  • Adhere to all safety and environmental protocols, procedures, and training, maintaining a safe work environment at all times.
  • Comply with all Good Manufacturing Practices, including GMP dress code standards.
  • Report to work in a condition that allows scheduled performance and communicate tardiness and absences per the Call‑Off Procedure and Attendance Policy.
